Netflix has stated its position regarding the complete editing of 'When Life Gives You Tangerines' by Korean history instructor Jeon Han-gil.
On the 2nd, various online communities posted that Jeon Han-gil made a special appearance in the Netflix series 'When Life Gives You Tangerines' (written by Lim Sang-chun, directed by Kim Won-seok) last month but was edited out. Jeon Han-gil disclosed that he made a special appearance, but he did not appear until the final episode.
Jeon Han-gil previously announced the fact that he made a special appearance while filming 'When Life Gives You Tangerines' in 2023 on the cafe he is active in. Internet users speculated that he would appear in an episode related to Yang Geum-myeong (played by IU), who started a business in the series.
In response, a Netflix official noted to OSEN on the 2nd, "We conducted various edits and re-shoots to present a higher quality work."
Regarding the complete editing, Jeon Han-gil's position is that it is not due to political issues, as he has recently been vocal against President Yoon Suk-yeol's impeachment. According to the official, Jeon Han-gil's decision to appear and filming took place before any political issues arose.
'When Life Gives You Tangerines' is a work that unfolds the adventurous life of a rebellious girl, Ae-sun, born in Jeju, and an iron-willed man, Gwan-sik, across the four seasons, featuring IU, Moon So-ri, Park Bo-gum, and Park Hae-joon.
