Host Ahn Young-mi faced controversy for using profanity during a live broadcast of the radio show 'Two O'clock Date with Ahn Young-mi'.
On the 31st, the Korea Communications Standards Commission (KCSC) held a full meeting and decided to impose a legal sanction of 'caution' on 'Two O'clock Date with Ahn Young-mi'.
Earlier, Ahn Young-mi had come under fire for unexpectedly using profanity during a live broadcast on MBC FM4U's 'Two De' in October 2024. At the time, Ahn Young-mi was discussing fan service with a guest and said, "After accommodating fans' requests, do we then turn around and say 'f***'?", leaving the guest embarrassed.
Realizing the issue late, Ahn Young-mi corrected, "I meant to say 'shoe, shoe'," and Sunwoo from The Boyz, who was a guest, noted, "If you tell me to tie my shoelaces, I'll turn and do it," trying to smooth things over. However, listeners who heard the broadcast live expressed their criticism of Ahn Young-mi's inappropriate remarks and behavior.
The next day, Ahn Young-mi stated on the broadcast, "I think there were people who were surprised by the inappropriate words I used yesterday. I want to take this time to apologize," and added, "There may have been people who were taken aback, but I will ensure to entertain you with appropriate broadcasting terms going forward."
During the full meeting, MBC also said, "This is a clear mistake, and we have urged the host not to chase entertainment excessively, and we have received a commitment to prevent recurrence," adding, "We are also considering corner cancellation or adjustments in the event of similar incidents."
However, the KCSC stated, "The production team must have heard the profanity during the live broadcast, but instead of an apology at the end of the program, only a statement of apology came the next day, and no apology message was posted." It added, "There was a lack of appropriate follow-up measures. The host who used profanity on the broadcast received a two-year suspension, which is an inadequate response," and decided on the legal sanction of caution.
