Filmmaker Park Hae-il and others from the film industry, including those from the film 'Spring of Seoul,' urged the impeachment of President Yoon Suk-yeol.

On the 1st, under the auspices of the coalition of filmmakers to overcome the film industry crisis, a video statement titled 'Video Statement Urging the Impeachment of Yoon Suk-yeol' was released.

This video statement featured masters of the film industry such as directors Jeong Ji-young, Im Soon-rye, and Heo Jin-ho, along with directors Kim Sung-soo of 'Spring of Seoul,' Jang Joon-hwan of '1987,' Kim Tae-yong of 'Wonderland,' Jeong Ju-ri of 'Next, So-hee,' and Lee Eon-hee and Jung Jin-young of 'Love Law in Greater Cities,' among 1,025 names of filmmakers who participated in the statement appearing in the ending credits. It also depicted famous lines from Korean cinema aligned with the impeachment political atmosphere and citizens who went to the protest sites anxiously waiting for the Constitutional Court's ruling on Yoon Suk-yeol's impeachment trial.

The direction of the video statement was undertaken by director Choi Ha-na of the film 'Abyss' and was produced using footage provided by filmmakers recording the scene and Newstapa.

In the statement, filmmakers noted, "Since the 12.3 insurrection, we have demanded the immediate impeachment of Yoon Suk-yeol to uphold the Constitution of the Republic of Korea," explaining the background of the release of the 'Video Statement Urging the Impeachment of Yoon Suk-yeol.' They continued, "Believing in the power of the sovereign who has protected democracy in the Republic of Korea, we have patiently waited for several months for the Constitutional Court to impeach Yoon Suk-yeol based on universal and reasonable judgment."

They emphasized, "Korean cinema has always stood alongside the history of Korean democracy," and once again appealed, "The Constitutional Court must immediately impeach Yoon Suk-yeol, the accused, and uphold the Constitution of the Republic of Korea."

The Constitutional Court will conduct a ruling on the impeachment case against President Yoon Suk-yeol at 11 a.m. on the 45th day. This comes a staggering 111 days after President Yoon Suk-yeol was impeached due to the state of emergency on Dec. 14 of last year. In the meantime, the Constitutional Court has held 11 hearings and reviewed the case by frequently holding discussions to hear arguments from both sides.
