The wife of the 'couple in a relationship of dependency' appeared to be struggling with debt.
On March 31, the MBC program 'Oh Eun-young Report – Hell of Marriage' (hereinafter referred to as Hell of Marriage) featured a husband who diligently cared for his wife and a husband who was indifferent to her while enjoying her support, 'the couple in a relationship of dependency.'
The wife had debts in addition to arrears on a bank loan, with a total debt amount of about 31 million won. The husband, with a monthly income of 8 million won, noted, “I will talk about it after things escalate. It’s frustrating.” The wife stated, “I thought it wouldn't work for personal recovery since my salary is significantly high. As for my thoughts now, I want to try personal rehabilitation first and then provide documents to the best of my ability. If it gets rejected, then unfortunately, (the husband) will have to pay it back.”
The husband noted, “Most people would talk about it at that point, but I don't understand why.” He expressed that he couldn't understand why the wife, who was trying to resolve everything on her own.
The husband also stated that he was unaware when the wife applied for personal recovery for the first time. He replied, “When I asked, she said she used it for living expenses, so I didn't say anything after hearing that,” which left everyone frustrated. Oh Eun-young analyzed, “It seems like you are somewhat bystander, thinking, ‘Things should work out somehow.’ This is a severe indifference.” Regarding the husband's attitude while laughing at the wife’s debts, Kim Eung-soo remarked, “It’s laughter like, ‘Oh, another issue has arisen.’”
The wife explained, “From my standpoint, these debts are under my name. Even if it was money used by the family, it was under my name, so I wanted to take responsibility. My thought was to embrace it completely.” Oh Eun-young commented, “If that’s your logic, the husband should be paying rent. It doesn’t make sense. Just because the house where the family resides has a Jeonse loan under the wife’s name, does that mean ‘I have to pay it all back?’ I wonder why you think this way.”
The wife stated, “It seems like a matter of pride. Receiving help from this person should be natural, but I feel somewhat ashamed about it.” Oh Eun-young expressed frustration, saying, “That’s a very big problem. Feeling ashamed to receive money from the husband is an issue. While that may be acceptable when dating, you both are married.”
