Following singer Lee Chan-won, his fan club "Chans" also donated funds for wildfire damage recovery.
The Hope Bridge National Disaster Relief Association announced on the 1st that the fan club "Chans" donated 122,290,000 won for wildfire relief. This follows singer Lee Chan-won's donation of 100 million won for wildfire relief in his hometown of Uljoo on the 25th, with fans also participating in the good deed.
"Chans' donation will be used for emergency relief, provision of daily necessities, operation of temporary shelters, and support for recovery and daily life for residents in wildfire-affected areas including Ulsan, Gyeongbuk, and Gyeongnam.
This is not the first act of kindness from the fandom. This is the fourth donation for national disaster situations, having come together to donate 280 million won for the 2022 flood, Donghae wildfires, and the 2023 flood. With this latest donation, the total has reached 400 million won.
Members of Lee Chan-won's fan club Chans noted, "Carrying on the singer's love and spirit of sharing, the fan club Chans conducted fundraising to convey hope. We aim to share and support even a little the pain of those who are currently in distress."
Shin Hoon, Secretary General of the Hope Bridge, stated, "It is even more meaningful because both the singer and fans contributed together. We will ensure ongoing and systematic support so that the warm hearts of the fans and the singer can reach those affected by disaster, without stopping at one-off aid."
Meanwhile, Hope Bridge is currently providing over 440,000 relief supplies, including relief kits, shelter partitions, blankets, daily necessities, bottled water, and food items to the wildfire-affected areas. Various on-site activities are also ongoing, including laundry support at shelters and meal support for firefighters and on-site rescue teams through "meal trucks."
The Hope Bridge National Disaster Relief Association is a disaster relief fundraising organization established in 1961 by various media outlets and social organizations across the nation. Its main activities include emergency disaster relief, fundraising and distribution of public donations, community recovery after disasters, and support for vulnerable groups affected by disasters. To date, it has provided 1.6 trillion won in donations and over 60 million relief items.
