The group Izna is making its first comeback with a six-member system.
Izna recently held an interview at a café in Gangnam, Seoul, to commemorate the release of its first digital single “SIGN” and discussed its new song.
Having debuted with the album “N/a” last November, Izna announced its first digital single “SIGN” on the 31st, marking its first comeback after four months.
Bang Ji-min shared, “After debuting, making our first comeback just four months later feels exciting, and I'm thrilled that we can come back with a song that has a different feel from our debut track 'Izna.' I really want to meet our fans soon.”
Yu Sa-rang said, “It’s my first comeback, so I’m both nervous and excited, but the song was one that made me want to start activities immediately upon hearing it, I had high expectations for it. We prepared really hard and I want to show our song to our fans quickly.”
Coco also added, “Since it’s my first comeback, I’m nervous and excited, aiming to do everything perfectly that we couldn’t do during our debut, and I’ve been practicing hard due to the desire to perform well. I genuinely feel that I want this activity and think you can have high expectations for it.”
Izna’s new song “SIGN” is a love song that expresses courage and confidence in delivering love as a clear signal. Instead of waiting for love, Izna plans to evoke excitement in listeners by confidently sending signals and expressing emotions, along with a blend of catchy melodies and sensory lyrics.
Regarding the new song, the members said, “While our debut track ‘Izna’ was hip, rhythmic, confident, and chic, this time, ‘SIGN’ will display a refreshing mood with a poignant melody and sensory lyrics. It tells a growth story that shows our identity more confidently, with a definite structure and emotional expression.”
When asked about their first impression of hearing “SIGN,” Choi Eun-jung responded, “We all felt that it seemed like something the fans would enjoy. I have high expectations that they will really like the poignant and melodic parts. A lot of us said how excited we felt immediately after hearing the song.”
Yu Sa-rang expressed confidence, stating, “After our debut activities ended, we all discussed working hard together to promote Izna more, and after listening to this song, I felt ambitious. As we prepared for this activity, I felt teamwork develop among the members, and we got closer.”
This new song also saw participation from the producers at The Black Label, including Teddy, improving its quality. The members stated, “It was different from our debut song, so we didn't expect it, but it was so good. We believe we can show our colors well with this. Producer Teddy mentioned that this song is soft and delicate, so it was important to express emotions during the recording.”
They continued, “He gave us feedback that we needed to maintain that emotion until the end, and while the producers helped us immerse ourselves by creating scenarios, we appreciated that they provided us with substantial support to immerse ourselves.”
Meanwhile, member Yoon Ji-yoon halted activities for health reasons in February, so Izna will be active as a six-member group for the time being. Regarding this, Bang Ji-min stated, “The decision was made with Yoon Ji-yoon’s health and condition as our top priority. I thought it would be good for her to take a break and have time to control herself. This was a decision made after long discussions among the company, Ji-yoon, and us.”
Bang Ji-min further commented, “I felt a great deal of disappointment that we couldn’t return together, but we prepared to take responsibility for this activity so that those watching wouldn’t feel Ji-yoon’s absence. I hope Ji-yoon recovers quickly and can participate in our next activities.” She also urged, “Ji-yoon, don’t worry about yourself; focus on what we are doing and carry out your part. We will be working hard, so feel free to contact us and let’s meet up soon.”
Lastly, Izna shared its goals for this year, saying, “We want to make ourselves better known. We want to achieve first place on music broadcasts and rank higher on music charts. We hope to win the Rookie Award at our debut stage at MAMA and also win awards globally, like at Billboard.”
