NewJeans's 'Super Shy' has surpassed 700 million streams on Spotify.
According to Spotify, the world's largest music streaming platform, as of the 29th, 'Super Shy,' one of the triple title tracks from NewJeans' second EP 'Get Up' (Minji, Hanni, Daniel, HAEIN, Hae-rin), has accumulated 700,238,819 streams. It is NewJeans's third song to reach 700 million streams on Spotify, following 'OMG' and 'Ditto'.
'Super Shy,' released in July 2023, features a bouncy sound characterized by a jersey club rhythm and upbeat beats. The song stayed on the Billboard Hot 100 for 8 weeks and the Official UK Singles Chart for 9 weeks, reaching a peak of 48 and 52, respectively. Additionally, it secured the second position on both the Billboard Global 200 and Global Excluding the U.S., and entered the top 10 on Spotify's global and U.S. Daily Top Songs, setting new records for NewJeans on several charts.
'Super Shy,' enjoying this worldwide popularity, was the only K-Pop song to be included in Pitchfork's list of 'The 100 Best Songs of the 2020s' released in September last year. Pitchfork praised 'Super Shy' as "NewJeans's most effortless masterpiece," noting that it "boasts a catchy hook without being too flashy."
So far, NewJeans has released 14 songs that have surpassed 100 million streams on Spotify. 'OMG' and 'Ditto,' along with 'Super Shy,' have surpassed 700 million, 'Hype Boy' has over 600 million, 'Attention' has over 400 million, 'New Jeans' and 'ETA' have over 300 million, 'Cookie,' 'Hurt,' and 'Cool With You' have over 200 million, and 'ASAP,' 'Get Up,' 'How Sweet,' and 'Supernatural' have each surpassed 100 million streams. The cumulative streaming count for all songs released by NewJeans on Spotify exceeds 6 billion.
