Singer Kim Jong-hwan and Jung Dong-won appeared on MBN's 'Let's Go Season 4' and shared a heartwarming episode.
In the 8th episode of MBN's 'Let's Go Season 4,' which aired on the 30th, singer Kim Jong-hwan, known for creating the songs 'For Love' and 'The Reason for Existence' as well as 'Hope' and 'White Space', which gained attention when performed by Lim Young-woong and Jung Dong-won on a trot audition program, made a guest appearance. Furthermore, singer Jung Dong-won, who has a special connection with Kim Jong-hwan, appeared as a special MC and created a warm atmosphere.
MCs Ahn Jung-hwan and Hong Hyun-hee asked Jung Dong-won, who appeared as a special MC, 'Where is your home?' to which Jung Dong-won replied, 'It's Hapjeong-dong, Mapo-gu.' The MCs, noting that Jung Dong-won is reportedly neighbors with Lim Young-woong, asked, 'Did you buy it without a loan?' and Jung Dong-won honestly replied, 'I bought it without a loan. The price was reasonable at that time. There was an article stating I bought it in the 2 billion range.' He also stated, 'I moved to a closer place to attend an art high school.'
The MCs mentioned the special connection between Jung Dong-won and Kim Jong-hwan, asking, 'Did you request the song 'White Space', or did the teacher give it to you?' Jung Dong-won replied, 'When I was in the finale of the trot audition, there were various songs, but I chose 'White Space.' These days, singers are lining up to get songs from the songwriters.'
The MCs, who went to Kim Jong-hwan's house with Jung Dong-won, admired his studio filled with rare items, from a signed Beatles framed picture to a piano identical to one used by ABBA. The MCs asked Jung Dong-won, 'Is there a thing you want the most?' to which Jung Dong-won replied, 'If I had to choose one, it would be the frame signed by the Beatles.' The MCs then asked Kim Jong-hwan, 'Can you give it to Jung Dong-won?' but Kim Jong-hwan firmly refused, saying, 'No. That would be a huge problem,' and when asked, 'What if your granddaughter asked for it?' he coldly replied, 'What does my granddaughter and I have in common? Even if I gave it to her, she wouldn't know who the Beatles are,' astonishing everyone.
After the house tour, the MCs were curious to know why Kim Jong-hwan chose Jung Dong-won for the song 'White Space,' wondering if Jung Dong-won understood the meaning of the lyrics. Kim Jong-hwan replied, 'I didn't think Dong-won would sing this song. He chose it himself.' To this, Jung Dong-won said, 'I just felt like I wanted to do it. I thought, 'I should do it before it gets taken away,' so I brought 'White Space' as soon as it was my turn.'
Kim Jong-hwan noted, 'Actually, I thought, 'He's a bit too young to sing this song.' But then hearing his voice, I said, 'You can grow up like Michael Jackson.' When he becomes an adult, the feeling of the song will change. I made the song 'Hope' by No Sa-yeon, but she seemed too young, and it didn't match the lyrics. So I thought, 'I can't give it to her now,' and I held it for 10 years.'
The MCs mentioned, 'Wasn't the song 'Hope' also in the spotlight because it was sung by Lim Young-woong?' Kim Jong-hwan praised, 'Lim Young-woong sings very well. His voice is clean and polished, without any sharp edges, and it seemed to fit well.'
