GD (G-Dragon)'s concert after 8 years has opened.
On the 29th, G-Dragon held the third world tour 'G-DRAGON 2025 WORLD TOUR [Ubermensch]' at Goyang Sports Complex in Ilsanseo-gu, Gyeonggi Province. Over two days until the 3rd, G-Dragon will meet with over 60,000 fans to kick off his third world tour.
This concert, held after an impressive 8 years following the second world tour that set the record for the largest scale tour for a solo artist, has garnered high expectations from fans, leading to a complete sell-out of all tickets in advance before general sales even began. They even opened up seats with limited views, which also sold out within 3 minutes, showcasing the hot excitement.
However, cold weather was a challenge. As fans from around the world flocked to Goyang Sports Complex, G-Dragon urgently announced the change in performance time five hours before the show. He stated that due to sudden adverse weather conditions, the entrance time would be postponed by 30 minutes.
As a result, the 6:30 p.m. performance was changed to 7 p.m. However, the performance actually began about 43 minutes later than scheduled, starting at 7:43 p.m. The agency explained, "Due to adverse weather conditions (strong winds) at the venue, the performance was delayed for safety reasons, and as a result, it was further delayed by about 40 minutes."
G-Dragon heated up the stage singing 'POWER' and 'HOME SWEET HOME' to warm the cold audience, while Taeyang and Daesung made their appearances via effects on monitors, receiving cheers from fans. During the Sunday performance, Taeyang and Daesung participated live for 'HOME SWEET HOME' and an encore stage.
He then noted, “It's been a while since we’ve done this. G-Dragon is back. After 8 years. After 88 months, I'm ready to work today?” He added, “I tend to be shy. If you don't give me cheers and strength, I might sulk and leave. Let's both put in the effort,” before launching into the next song, 'SUPER STAR.' After that, CL from the girl group 2NE1 made a surprise appearance as a guest during the 'R.O.D' stage. The two displayed their charisma during the performance of ‘The Leaders.’
G-Dragon expressed, “I don't know if the system has changed. Do singers not drink water these days?” as he looked for water. He also apologized for the delay, saying, “I'm sorry for starting the performance late in this cold weather.” He added, “A lot has happened. With many things being noisy, it wouldn't be comfortable, but I'm grateful and honored to have you all here, making time to meet as a singer on this stage.”
He continued, “Everyone is shining hard somewhere, choosing good paths for various personal situations. Honestly, I feel like I'm shining most today, having the chance to boast about my stage again. I have something to be proud of. Although it's been a long time since my last comeback, I realized while preparing for this comeback that I actually hadn't felt the word 'comeback' until now.”
G-Dragon commented, “I’m feeling for the first time the mindset of preparing for a comeback, wanting to do it and show it, thinking a lot about this. I promised to meet you all, so it took a while to come back. It took a long time, but I’m glad you all say it’s good.”
G-Dragon changed outfits and performed 'Bonamana,' 'That XX,' and 'Butterfly.' Particularly, 'Butterfly' is known as a masterpiece from G-Dragon's first regular album, and since he hadn't performed it often during concerts, it received an even hotter reaction.
After taking off his silver jacket, G-Dragon put on a black jacket with wings and continued the concert, singing 'So Good,' 'What's Up,' 'Today,' and 'Pittakage.' After the stage ended, a drone show was held in the sky, creating an image of G-Dragon's face following the cover image of 'Heartbreaker,' captivating the audience.
Along with singing 'Heartbreaker', G-Dragon shared the stage with beatboxer Wing. G-Dragon, who appeared among the sculptures on stage, passionately sang in a mint-colored suit and a fedora. His singing and rapping combined with Wing's beatboxing created a magnificent stage.
In 'Dog Talk,' the image of a dog was conveyed through the scoreboard effects, and during 'TAKE ME,' G-Dragon ran around on stage with a guitar-shaped laser gun. The audience's enthusiastic response continued throughout the performance up to 'TOO BAD.' During the dance break of 'TOO BAD,' G-Dragon briefly sat down and said, “This is a strange experience. They say your legs go weak. Is this what happened? I couldn't put any strength into my legs. I should have warmed up, but I think my nose is blocked and I have a runny nose,” struggling in the cold weather.
G-Dragon commented on the statues on stage, saying, “The 'Ubermensch' album honestly seems to have complex ideas and philosophies. It was actually meant to appear profound, but basically, it’s about continuing to work hard despite everything. I just want to smile, like a smile.”
He explained, “(The statues) are both me but a bit different. One is an excerpt from an old video during the 'Heartbreaker' album, and the other is from a new one I prepared. They are facing each other, representing me in the past and me afterward. I must be progressing as I have these. Who are you?” and joked.
He then remarked, “I’ll do a lot and try to run once more before the end of the year. Korean fans are probably sad,” to which the fans shouted back, “Thank you.” G-Dragon responded, “I’m really sorry for today. I’m sorry for being late and sorry for the cold.”
Additionally, he mentioned, “I have siblings. We have turned 20, and we need to hold a coming-of-age ceremony since we are now adults,” referring to Big Bang's 20th anniversary coming in 2026. G-Dragon stated, “The three of us turning 20 will happen next year. I’m planning an adult ceremony that will be very sexy and quite grotesque, and after today, this 'Ubermensch' tour marks a step forward; I’ll come back quickly after getting around.
G-Dragon expressed, “Today is really good. Thank you for coming to the concert, and although it might be different from my old self, regardless of how I look, whether I take on new challenges or show something new, we all define the current state as 'Ubermensch.' That is my definition. Please watch until the end today, and if I mess up, give me a hint, and if I do well, please cheer for me.”
After singing 'DRAMA,' G-Dragon disappeared behind the stage but returned at the fans' request for an encore where he sang 'Young Boy,' 'THIS LOVE,' 'One Year Station,' 'IBELONGIIU,' 'OUTRO. New Song,' and 'Untitled,' closing the concert.
Meanwhile, G-Dragon decided to donate 300 million won from the proceeds of the 'G-DRAGON 2025 WORLD TOUR [Ubermensch]' concerts held on the 29th and 30th at Goyang Sports Complex to support recovery efforts for the major forest fire damages occurring in Gyeongsang Province, Ulsan, and nearby areas.
