The movie 'Holy Night: Demon Hunters' (screenplay/director: Lim Dae-hee, production: Big Punch Pictures, Nova Film) has revealed character stills of Ma Dong-seok, Seo Hyun, and Lee Da-wit from the 'Holy Night' team, who take on demons with fresh and harmonious synergy.
In a city plunged into chaos by a group that worships evil, the 'Holy Night' team consisting of the darkness resolver with special abilities, Bau (Ma Dong-seok), Sharon (Seo Hyun), and Kim-gun (Lee Da-wit), faces off against the forces of evil in the occult action 'Holy Night: Demon Hunters.'
Ma Dong-seok, a box office star who attracted 10 million viewers with 'Train to Busan,' 20 million viewers with the 'Along with the Gods' series, and tripled the attendance with the 'Crime City' series, will take on demons this time. In 'Holy Night: Demon Hunters,' Ma Dong-seok plays the role of 'Bau,' a character who hunts demons with immense strength and fists. 'Bau,' endowed with special abilities that surpass humans from birth, is the strongest character ever encountered that couldn't be seen in Ma Dong-seok's own cinematic universe (MCU). As he embarks on his first challenge in the occult genre, he noted, "It was important to depict a thrilling image of overpowering the worshippers and eliminating the forces of evil. I thought about how to showcase the special power of 'Bau' while keeping it grounded in reality, ensuring that it doesn't come off as too fantastical, leading me to design and perform different types of action from previously." Additionally, he expressed his excitement for his character's stronger comeback by stating, "As the leader of the 'Holy Night' team, I spent a lot of time with the actors on set to create good synergy with Sharon and Kim-gun and had fun filming."
Actress Seo Hyun, who has showcased limitless character adaptability across various genres including 'Thief: The Sound of the Sword,' 'Jinx's Lover,' and 'Moral Sense,' has embodied a powerful exorcist, Sharon, who can banish any demon. 'Sharon' is a character that senses, seeks out, and exorcises the presence of demons, leading the core of the 'Holy Night' team. When 'Sharon' appears, her eyes turn white during exorcisms, she feels the sinister energies with her touch, and her incantations are recited in ancient language, filling the screen with tension. Seo Hyun infused her own charm and ambiance into the character of 'Sharon' within a world where Eastern and Western elements coexist. She not only perfectly executed glamorous styling but also became one with the character by listening to her lines often through earphones and replaying them before bed. Moreover, she highlighted her dedication by saying, "Instead of just memorizing the exorcism lines to perform, I tried to fully grasp their profound meanings to express them well through acting," successfully achieving the most intense transformation in her filmography.
Lee Da-wit, who showcased his global appeal through 'Squid Game' Season 2, plays Kim-gun, who gathers information on demons and their worshippers, recording the exorcism process on video. 'Kim-gun' is a multi-tasker who swiftly sets up the initial conditions of the case and records the scene with a camcorder, handling any tasks requested for Bau and the office. With a quirky but amiable personality, he serves as the mood maker for the 'Holy Night' team, and as such, Lee Da-wit focused on creating a delightful rapport with Ma Dong-seok.
