Actor Son Tae-young shared her concerns about her children's education.
On the 29th, a video titled "Not Chuncheon but New Jersey?! Son Tae-young's favorite noodle and dumpling restaurant (+ shocking U.S. college admissions)" was uploaded to the 'Mrs. New Jersey Son Tae-young' channel.
That day, Son Tae-young conversed while riding with her daughter, Ri-ho. She asked, "How was school today?" and Ri-ho replied, "It was good. But I have to make an essay about what job I want. I want to be a financial manager," expressing her desire to be someone who manages money well legally.
To this, Son Tae-young asked, "Is that your future dream? You have to write an essay about that? Why does it have to be that way?" Then she continued, "You are starting to practice for the essay now. You need to read a lot of books. You liked books, right? If you read a lot, it will help you. And you don't have to read difficult books. You can read what you want. That will help you when you write later," she advised.
Ri-ho worried, "There's no one to help me," but Son Tae-young emphasized, "No, that's something you have to do, of course. Who will do that for you? It's your dream."
Then Ri-ho confided, "My dream is to be a lawyer. But there's no lawyer on the essay job list," and Son Tae-young encouraged her, saying, "That's similar. Managing things about the law is also similar. Do well with it."
Particularly, Son Tae-young also shared her concerns about U.S. college admissions when meeting with acquaintances. She expressed, "In the U.S., just studying well doesn't work. I don't know much about the admissions process here. Looking around, everyone seems to have a GPA over 4.0, all doing classical music and sports. Everything is perfect, yet teachers are raising their hands for 'awareness.' So, what is this?"
In response, an acquaintance said, "I heard that my cousin's older sister interviewed both parents before," to which Son Tae-young nodded, "There are schools like that. They assess the parents' tendencies," showing her disbelief at the challenging U.S. admission process.
