Singer-songwriter An Ye-eun will remake Kim Wan-sun's representative song.
An Ye-eun will release a digital single "The clown smiles at us" today, at 6 p.m. through various music streaming sites.
"The clown smiles at us" is a song released by Kim Wan-sun in 1990, which recorded a phenomenal hit at the time with its sophisticated performance. An Ye-eun drew inspiration from the Korean word for "clown," which is "광대," and reinterpreted the original song with a story about clowns from the Joseon Dynasty.
In particular, the latter part of the song includes the lyrics, "Even if I am reborn, a clown, a clown / No doubt, a clown, a clown / In this cursed world, I had a blast / Let's meet again as clowns," and the unique charm is enhanced by a traditional music arrangement that An Ye-eun participated in.
An Ye-eun's remake was made through the web entertainment program "Backpacking and Busking 2." This program travels around Yeongjong Island, Ganghwa Island, and Ansan while conducting busking, and the solo song "The clown smiles at us" that An Ye-eun showcased during the busking led to the release of the music.
Meanwhile, An Ye-eun will hold a solo concert titled "Monday Project Season 8: Try Again" on April 17 at the Nodul Island Live House in Yongsan-gu, Seoul. Prior to this, An Ye-eun will release the remake of "The clown smiles at us" today, at 6 p.m. through various music streaming sites.
