As 'When Life Gives You Tangerines' came to an end, the production team once again paid tribute to the late actor Kang Myung-joo in the ending credits.

On the 28th, the Netflix original series 'When Life Gives You Tangerines' concluded with the release of its 16th episode (final episode). On this day, 'When Life Gives You Tangerines' had four episodes from 12 to 16 released simultaneously, corresponding to Act 4. At the end of the 13th episode among these, a tribute to the deceased appeared in the ending credits.

Kang Myung-joo played the role of Bu-yong, the mother of Young-beom (Lee Jun-young), who was so beloved by Geum-myung (IU) that she even contemplated marriage in her 20s. Bu-yong despised Geum-myung as a match for her son, and was criticized for speaking rudely to both Geum-myung and her mother Ae-soon (Moon So-ri). However, despite her remarkable performance in the series, Kang Myung-joo passed away on the 27th of last month after battling cancer before the show's release. This evoked sympathy from viewers throughout the airing of 'When Life Gives You Tangerines.'

'When Life Gives You Tangerines' aired, Kang Myung-joo received praise for her perfectly immersive performance as Bu-yong. As Ae-soon and Geum-myung faced troubles with Young-beom, viewers recalled the late actor by noting, "The more Bu-yong was disliked, the more it proved how well the actress acted," and, "She poured her life into the performance."

Among these, a photo that IU revealed on her personal social media featuring the cast included a picture with Kang Myung-joo. Unlike the strained relationship between Bu-yong and Geum-myung in the series, the photo showed IU and Kang Myung-joo smiling warmly, suggesting a different atmosphere on set. Additionally, the production team conveyed a final tribute to the late actor once again in the ending credits of the 13th episode.

Kang Myung-joo made her debut in 1992 with the play 'Kuni, Nara' at the Experimental Theater Company. Since then, she has performed in numerous plays and made a lasting impression with supporting roles in dramas such as 'Extraordinary Attorney Woo' and 'Please Take Care of My Family.' Her daughter, Park Se-young, is also active as an actress.
