Singer G-Dragon is facing controversy over delays in his concert due to bad weather and indiscriminate littering by some fans.
G-Dragon will hold his third world tour 'G-DRAGON 2025 WORLD TOUR [Ubermensch]' on the 29th and 30th at the Goyang Gymnasium located in Ilsanseo-gu, Goyang City, meeting with over 60,000 audience members.
This concert is G-Dragon's first solo concert in 8 years since his world tour in 2017, and it has sparked heated discussions right from ticket sales.
The first day's concert on the 29th drew attention with several stars in attendance, including 'Running Man' members Yoo Jae-suk, Yang Se-chan, Haha, and Ji Seok-jin, along with Sandara Park, Code Kunst, actor Lee Dong-hwi, MONSTA X's IM, and Kep1er’s Yujin.
However, due to adverse weather conditions, the concert was delayed, and the organizers announced through a notice 5 hours before the performance that it would be postponed by 30 minutes; however, even at the changed time of 7 p.m., the concert did not start. Ultimately, the audience waited for 43 minutes without separate guidance before G-Dragon appeared on stage. G-Dragon stated, "I apologize for starting the concert late due to the cold weather."
Afterward, G-Dragon's agency, Galaxy Corporation, explained, "Due to adverse weather conditions (strong winds) at the venue, the concert was postponed for safety reasons, and as a result, it was delayed once more."
It continued, "G-Dragon monitored the weather conditions all day at the venue, including a soundcheck at 2 p.m. Nevertheless, we inform you that the measures taken were due to safety concerns about using the scheduled stage equipment, which could impact the audience. G-Dragon also expressed his apologies at the concert venue, and once again extends gratitude and apologies to the fans who waited in the cold for a long time."
After the concert, the behavior of some audience members became an issue. On the 30th, many photos from G-Dragon's concert venue were posted on various online communities.
The published photos showed piles of garbage discarded throughout the concert hall, causing displeasure. Some fans were seen carelessly throwing away boxes and plastic after purchasing goods.
Earlier, G-Dragon was noted for gifting garbage bags to residents living near the concert venue ahead of the concert. This was to express his gratitude to the residents who cooperated by considering the noise and other damages caused by the concert.
However, some fans were captured throwing trash carelessly at the concert venue, becoming the target of criticism. Fans are now voicing their opinions on fan cafes, suggesting that they either take their trash with them or properly sort it for disposal.
Meanwhile, G-Dragon will hold the second day's performance of the G-DRAGON 2025 WORLD TOUR 'Ubermensch' at Goyang Gymnasium on the 30th, and plans to donate 300 million won of the concert's revenue to support recovery efforts from large wildfires in Gyeongsang-do and Ulsan.
