Singer Young-tak's fans donated 150 million won for wildfire disaster relief.
The Hope Bridge National Disaster Relief Association (Chairman Song Pil-ho) announced on the 29th that the fan club 'Young-tak and Blues' participated in a total donation of 150 million won.
Young-tak personally donated 100 million won to help the affected residents after hearing about the recent wildfires. The fan club 'Young-tak and Blues,' moved by Young-tak's good deed, also took immediate action. A total of 2,431 fans gathered from across the country voluntarily contributed a total of 153,135,525 won.
This donation will be used for emergency relief, provision of daily necessities, operation of temporary shelters, and support for recovery and daily life for residents in wildfire-affected areas, including Young-tak's hometown of Andong, as well as Ulsan, North Gyeongsang, and South Gyeongsang.
The fan club noted, "We wanted to contribute to Young-tak's warm heart" and said, "We want to create a fandom culture that goes beyond simple support to practicing social sharing."
'Young-tak and Blues' has already made a name for itself through consistent donation activities. It has made contributions for disaster relief in 2020 due to flooding, supported recovery from the wildfires on the East Coast in 2022, and assisted with flooding relief in the same year. Including this donation related to wildfire damage, the total accumulated donations by the fandom have exceeded 280 million won.
Shin Hoon, Secretary-General of Hope Bridge, expressed gratitude, saying, "I deeply appreciate Young-tak and Blues' warm sharing," and stated, "Such good deeds will provide great comfort and strength to the affected residents."
Meanwhile, Hope Bridge is currently supporting more than 440,000 disaster relief supplies, including relief kits, shelter partitions, blankets, daily necessities, bottled water, and food for the wildfire-affected areas, and various on-site relief activities, including laundry support in shelters, continue. In addition, meal support for firefighters and on-site emergency responders is also underway.
The Hope Bridge National Disaster Relief Association is a specialized organization for disaster relief fundraising established in 1961 by media companies and social organizations nationwide. Its main activities include emergency disaster relief, fundraising and distribution of public donations, recovery of local communities after disasters, and support for vulnerable groups affected by disasters. To date, it has provided 1.6 trillion won in donations and over 60 million disaster relief supplies.
