Director Lee Jeong-seop, who was in charge of the movie 'Real' but was replaced midway, spoke out.
On the 28th, Director Lee Jeong-seop stated on his personal account, "Someone mentioned my tweet about the director change incident of the movie 'Real' that I wrote in 2017, and I thought to myself, ah, that actor is getting attention these days, but could it be the person involved?" He continued, "Now that the movie is out, I can say this confidently, but the circumstances surrounding that movie had nothing to do with Lee Jeong-seop, not even 1%. Even if it's not the case of the movie 'Real', if the director was suddenly replaced and the substitute is a production company representative who hasn't directed before, it’s definitely the production company’s fault," while retweeting a post and saying, "Thank you. I have been truly pained for a long time."
Amid controversies surrounding nude scenes and bed scenes featuring Sulli in the movie, the director who directly directed it confessed his feelings, drawing attention.
Recently, Director Lee Jeong-seop also left a post regarding the controversy surrounding actor Kim Soo-hyun and the late Kim Sae-ron's relationship, stating, "First, I must apologize to the deceased; that is what a person should do. Nothing has changed, the malice has only evolved more viciously."
After a statement that the late Kim Sae-ron was unable to issue during her lifetime was made public, he added, "It’s painful and heart-wrenching."
'Real', which was released in June 2017, depicts the story of two men ahead of the opening of Asia's largest casino. Starring Kim Soo-hyun, Sulli, Lee Sung-min, Sung Dong-il, and Jo Woo-jin, Director Lee Jeong-seop conducted most of the filming and entered post-production. However, during this process, the representative of the production company, known to be Kim Soo-hyun's cousin, Lee Sa-rang, took over as director, and suddenly the director was changed. At the time, the production company acknowledged the director's departure, stating, "There were differences in the direction of the work," and the subsequently released 'Real' received overwhelming criticism and dismal box office results. Now known as Irobe, Director Lee Sa-rang is currently the representative of Gold Medalist, where Kim Soo-hyun is signed, and the two established a management company together.
Above all, the reason 'Real' was resurrected after eight years is that the late Sulli's biological brother, Mr. A, demanded a statement from Director Lee Sa-rang.
Mr. A mentioned his sister Sulli's nude scenes and bed scenes, saying, "We have spent the last six years in deep sadness and tears, but we felt deep gratitude thanks to the support and consideration of many people," and added, "I could not ignore the death of the late Kim Sae-ron as if it were not my matter. I express my deep condolences to the bereaved family of the late Kim Sae-ron."
Mr. A specifically became aware during his sister's funeral through testimonies from staff and actors that the bed scene between the late Sulli and Kim Soo-hyun was not explicitly mentioned in the script and urged for a statement regarding this.
Additionally, regarding the nude scene of Sulli during filming, there were supposedly stunt performers, and it is known that a stunt performer was present on set at the time. He asked why they didn't use the stunt performer and instead persuaded Sulli to be forced into a bed scene and nude scene. Although it was claimed that the stunt performer could not attend because they were ill on the day the bed scene and nude scene were filmed, testimonies from attendees at the funeral claimed that the stunt performer was indeed present, and he sought the stance of Kim Soo-hyun and Lee Sa-rang regarding this fact.
In addition, after Mr. A encountered the controversy related to Kim Soo-hyun and the late Kim Sae-ron, he posted, "Kim has a lot to say but cannot speak. It’s going to fall from a high place, so hold on tight," which ignited speculation about 'targeting Kim Soo-hyun.' Subsequently, he wrote, "My life, your life, and everyone's life is 'Real.'" Also, on the morning of the 28th, he uploaded a significant post, saying, "It has been six years since I lost my sister. For six years, you have made her a plaything; for the six years of pain you will endure in the future, do not break too quickly."
