Jung-Young Choi died at his home on Mar. 29, 2010. He was 39 years old at the time and passed away just 1 year and 5 months after his sister Choi Jin-sil, adding to the tragedy.

He had taken care of his two nephews, Hwan-Hee Choi and Jun-Hee Choi, after his sister Choi Jin-sil's death, but he struggled with depression and ultimately passed away. The sudden loss of both Choi Jin-sil and her brother Jung-Young Choi shocked the public and fans at the time.

During his life, Jung-Young Choi appeared on a variety show and noted, "I watched my sister struggle and I'm sorry I couldn't protect her. I'm so curious if she's at peace where she is now."

In 1991, he gained recognition for his acting skills by winning the Best New Actor award at the Blue Dragon Film Awards and the Male New Actor award at the Baeksang Arts Awards for the film "The Name That Was Shattered to Pieces" and also the Best New Actor award at the Spring Cinema Festival.

As he began his active acting career, he appeared in films such as "A Love Song Called at the End of Despair at Nineteen," "I Just Want to Live Until Twenty," "A Far and Distant Reunion," "Gangster Class," "Opening the Door to Youth," dramas such as "Our Paradise," "92" Whale Hunting," "City Men and Women," "Scenery with a Wife," "If You Love Me," "Dew Drop," and "It's Okay to Love".

In particular, Jung-Young Choi expanded his activities by debuting as a singer under the name SKY in 1999. He left behind songs such as "Eternity" and "My RAY," and was recognized for his talent by receiving the New Artist Award at the 2000 Korea Video and Record Awards and the New Artist Award at the Golden Disk Awards.
