Kim Eui-sung from 'Lobby' shared his acting hardships while looking at his character objectively.

On the morning of the 28th, an interview with the film's lead actor Kim Eui-sung took place at a cafe in Sogyeok-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul.

'Lobby' (directed by Ha Jung-woo, produced by Workhouse Company and Film Momentum, provided by Michigan Venture Capital Co. and WYSIWYG STUDIOS, distributed by SHOWBOX) depicts the story of Chang-wook (played by Ha Jung-woo), a startup CEO who only knew research, starting his first lobbying golf game to secure a 4 trillion won national project. Ha Jung-woo, who debuted as a director with his first work 'Rollercoaster' in 2013 and released 'The Tunnel' in 2015, presents his third directing project after a 10-year gap.

Ha Jung-woo plays the role of Chang-wook, a startup CEO who only knows research and aims to win based on technology. Park Byeong-eun plays his rival company CEO Gwang-woo, who secures business through lobbying. Kim Eui-sung portrays Choi, a veteran civil servant and influential figure in politics. Kang Hae-rim plays Jin-pro, a professional golfer. Lee Dong-hwi plays reporter Park, who facilitates lobbying. Choi Si-won plays Ma Tae-soo, a charismatic national actor. Cha Joo-young plays Dami, the golf course's owner's wife. Kwak Sun-young plays Director Kim, who supports Chang-wook, and Kang Mal-geum portrays the ambitious yet corrupt Minister Jo with little interest in practical matters.

Kim Eui-sung received great love early this year for his role in the Netflix series 'The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call' and met viewers through the TVING variety show 'Kim Eui-sung's Small Town Pub Adventures.' Moreover, he is about to release the Disney+ series 'Fine.'

Kim Eui-sung noted, "Ha Jung-woo's humor code was very high for me, making it difficult (laughs). Some people relate to that code, but I had personal hurdles. Nevertheless, I wanted to work with director Ha Jung-woo, as I had a long history with him as a junior. I thought, 'I hope this helps.' He also shared, "'Lobby' involved a lot of reading before shooting, which increased my affection for the film. I tried not to think of this film as a Ha Jung-woo project. I thought I was filming seriously according to the character without those thoughts."

Kim Eui-sung, who said he looked at himself in the character and thought, 'What is this?' revealed, "Everyone has weaknesses in society, even though they don’t necessarily harbor evil intentions. This often leads to negative outcomes. As an actor, I love my character, and even if others point fingers, I fundamentally love my character. Otherwise, who would love it? (laughs) This role has a tragic flaw, but there are also positive aspects. I acted thinking I'd look great in front of someone I like, but the result was quite serious (laughs). I realized I need to be more careful in my daily life, to not feel the need to look cool, but rather to live and act modestly and harmlessly."

In the film, Choi is a character who constantly flirts with the young female golfer Jin-pro. He considers it a good intention, but it appears quite the opposite to others.

Kim Eui-sung commented, "Seeing the result, it’s disgusting. During the reading, my concern was, 'Can I properly handle this role?' It seemed trivial, yet the actors around me laughed a lot. Director Ha Jung-woo said, 'You seem to be able to do just fine.' Personally, I didn’t think of it as playing a bad guy and acted as if it was a good intention, showing how horrific it can be when objectified. Good intentions must prioritize the other party. What was a love confession from his perspective involved lines akin to sexual harassment, and we had to shoot it in one take. I worried a lot about that scene, but we shot it all at once," he added, revealing behind-the-scenes details.

Meanwhile, 'Lobby' is set to be released on April 2nd.
