Kim Soo-hyun has fallen into a dilemma. Ultimately, the time has come for Kim Soo-hyun to speak up.
On the 27th, the family of the late Kim Sae-ron held a press conference and presented evidence supporting the claim that actor Kim Soo-hyun had been in a relationship with the deceased since her underage years. The disclosed materials include KakaoTalk conversations between the late Kim Sae-ron and Kim Soo-hyun from 2016 and a letter written by Kim Sae-ron in April of last year.
Among the released materials, the most notable is Kim Soo-hyun's message. Kim Soo-hyun sent affectionate messages to Kim Sae-ron, saying, 'I miss you' and 'When can I sleep holding you?', and when Kim Sae-ron sent a message saying 'Kiss', he replied, 'Do it for real later.'
Additionally, a letter that Kim Sae-ron tried to send to Kim Soo-hyun but failed was also disclosed. This letter was written by Kim Sae-ron in April last year after receiving a content verification notice from a gold medalist in March. In the handwritten letter, Kim Sae-ron stated, 'It has been about 5 to 6 years since we met,' and 'It is both my first love and my last love.'
If all the materials released by the family of the late Kim Sae-ron are true, the claims made by Kim Soo-hyun about their relationship during adulthood will lose credibility. The family’s lawyer also expressed doubt, saying, 'If you announce that you didn’t date, then looking at the KakaoTalk, is that 'grooming sexual assault'? Not dating? Is there nothing more we can respond with?'
Kim Soo-hyun has effectively been expelled from the broadcasting and advertising industries following allegations of an underage relationship. Prada, large supermarket Homeplus, and outdoor brand Eider have suspended advertising exposure, and brands like Tous Les Jours and Jo Malone London, which were about to expire their contracts, decided not to renew. This month, CKUK China, which had a contract with Kim Soo-hyun for advertising, also issued a statement halting promotions.
Furthermore, a fan meeting scheduled to take place in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, was also canceled. The organizers announced the cancellation of Kim Soo-hyun's fan meeting through their official social media and stated that all tickets would be fully refunded. In response, Kim Soo-hyun's side noted, 'For safety reasons, Kim Soo-hyun's brand event in Taiwan has been postponed.'
According to local industry sources, the penalty for the canceled Taiwan fan meeting is known to be approximately 1.3 billion won. In particular, as the release of the upcoming Disney+ 'Knock-Off' has also been put on hold, estimates have emerged that the penalties Kim Soo-hyun could incur may range from hundreds of millions to billions of won.
Kim Soo-hyun, who had been refuting the family’s claims through his agency, now faces a dilemma. With public opinion effectively turned against him, if he does not have solid evidence to refute the underage relationship claims, further explanations through his agency will likely not resonate with the public.
Now is the time for Kim Soo-hyun to step forward. Whether he acknowledges or denies the 'underage relationship' revealed by the family during the press conference, it is time for Kim Soo-hyun to speak up.
