(Following interview ①), singer Heyoon revealed the reason she started dancing.

Recently, Heyoon conducted an interview at the OSEN office to celebrate the release of her digital single "ASAP."

Before debuting as a singer, Heyoon moved to Seoul alone to pursue dance, despite her parents' opposition, after graduating from high school. When asked about the reason she became so passionate about dance, she reflected, "Everyone goes through difficulties when they're young. I had a tough time in my teenage years. I faced many issues during school, was bullied, and had difficulties at home. The challenges that everyone experiences were concentrated in my teenage years, so I matured quickly."

She said, "Thanks to that maturity, I quickly learned who I was from a young age. Because of that, I felt dance and music were my escape from the hardships I encountered. Also, my mother did music when I was young. She briefly worked as a singer in her 20s. It's not something that's well-known, but because of that, music was always present in my home from an early age. My mother often listened to pop music, played the piano, and when she sang, I sang along. Music has always been at the center of my life."

She continued, "There were so many tough things, but during that process, when I danced or did music, and when I performed for others, I felt free, and it became my language. I was shy as a child, so I couldn't make eye contact easily and didn't speak much. But when I danced, it all came out without me realizing it. It was a tool to express my emotions. That grew into what I do with music now."

When asked if one of the reasons her parents opposed her dancing was because they had experienced being a singer, she explained, "That time must have been different. As a female artist in music, she faced many challenges, so she probably didn’t want her daughter to go through the same. Given that it’s a difficult path, I think their concerns were natural," while noting, "Now, it feels more like ‘Do what you love.’"

Although he was shy as a child, Heyoon has now grown into an artist who loves herself more than anyone else. She identifies her strength as "confidence" and expressed, "I believe everyone has moments when they feel like an outsider. I feel that way too, but when I recognize I'm different from others, I find comfort in it and learn to love myself, becoming an artist who is passionate about life and knows how to enjoy it."

She stated, "I want to be an artist who gives energy to people so they can love themselves. Moths chase after light, but fireflies generate their own light. Additionally, fireflies shine brighter in groups than when they’re alone. I believe everyone is a firefly. Sometimes, when people lead busy and tough lives, they might forget they are fireflies and think they are moths. I feel my role is to go to those people, help them realize that they have their own unique light, and empower them to love themselves."

When asked about what led to her transformation, she replied, "It’s experience. I’ve learned continuously through meeting various people. However, it’s also something my parents instilled in me from a young age. The female figure I look up to is my mother. Since my childhood, my mother has always told me, ‘Being confident and enjoying life without fear is happiness.’ I think those values are internalized within me. Also, the resilience I learned in Korea, combined with my experiences abroad, has shaped who I am now." (To be continued in interview ③.)
