The family of late Kim Sae-ron has released evidence to prove that Kim Soo-hyun engaged in a relationship with a minor. In 2016, they disclosed chat messages between Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Sae-ron, stressing that if it were not a relationship involving a minor, it would be considered "grooming sexual crime."
On the afternoon of the 27th, attorney Bu Ji-seok from Law Firm Buyou, representing the family, held a press conference at the Space Share Gangnam Station Center in Seocho-gu, Seoul, revealing evidence that late Kim Sae-ron and Kim Soo-hyun had been in a relationship for six years since they were minors.
During the press conference, attorney Bu Ji-seok said, "The reason for holding today's press conference is to inform that the family is suffering, and we hope to stop the accusations against them. This is not a forum to reveal why late Kim Sae-ron ended her life." He added, "Through this, the family wishes to put an end to the controversy by presenting evidence."
He further stated, "After today's press conference, the family wants to express that they do not wish to engage in any more meaningless battles over the truth."
In addition, attorney Bu Ji-seok disclosed messages exchanged between the deceased and Kim Soo-hyun from 2016. However, he clarified that they did not reveal the original messages but restructured the chat messages to protect personal information.
The messages between Kim Sae-ron and Kim Soo-hyun, released by the family, show affectionate replies exchanged between them. In June 2016, Kim Sae-ron sent a chat message saying, "I miss you, do you not want to see me?" To this, Kim Soo-hyun replied, "You? You wouldn't not want to see me, would you?" When Kim Sae-ron further responded, "I don't know! If you don't say, I wouldn't know. I actually don't know," Kim Soo-hyun replied, "You're cute for asking such a question."
Kim Soo-hyun replied, "I miss you, I miss you," and when Kim Sae-ron sent an emoticon saying "give me more," he responded, "I miss you, haha." In another chat, he said, "When can I hold you and fall asleep? I think I could really sleep well then," to which Kim Sae-ron replied, "Okay, I will allow that."
Kim Soo-hyun then said, "Yeah, it might take about a year or so," followed by a message, "Three years? Haha." When Kim Sae-ron responded, "One year is too long, three years is too much," Kim Soo-hyun replied, "Is one year too much? How about six months?"
Additionally, when Kim Sae-ron left a message saying "♥side," Kim Soo-hyun replied, "Please do it in real life later... haha. Is this also forbidden?... T_T" To this, Kim Sae-ron replied, "No, it's not forbidden haha. I'll allow it," and Kim Soo-hyun responded, "Yay haha."
In this regard, attorney Bu Ji-seok stated, "If this kind of relationship was not one of dating, I would rather want to ask Kim Soo-hyun. Back then, Kim Sae-ron was 17 years old."
Furthermore, the family's attorney disclosed a letter late Kim Sae-ron wrote after receiving a certified notice in April last year. In the handwritten letter, she stated, "We have been together for about 5 to 6 years. It's my first love and my last love, so I hope you don't avoid me." This supports the family's claim of a relationship from 2015 to their breakup in 2021. The attorney noted, "After receiving the certified notice, I tried to deliver it in early April last year, but I couldn't because the APT. was a place that anyone couldn't enter."
Attorney Bu Ji-seok expressed doubt when asked if they would consider revealing more evidence if Kim Soo-hyun's side continues to deny the minor relationship after the evidence release: "If they announce that they did not date, looking at the chat now, could we consider that 'grooming sexual crime'? They are not dating, can we even respond further?"
When asked what kind of apology the family wants, he said, "Even if the other party apologizes, the receiver must feel that it is an apology worth understanding to consider it an apology. An apology asking for forgiveness should accompany it, right?"
In response, Kim Se-hee, the representative of Garosero Research Institute, stated, "For six years, there have been reversals in the stance regarding the dating issue, and lies have been repeated. The release of the photo where they were facing each other saying 'it's not true' and wondering 'why are they doing this' has had a huge impact; it influenced the extreme choice made."
