Singer Ailee expressed her sorrow over the loss of cherished people.
On the 25th, Ailee and THE BOYZ appeared as guests in the 'Special Live' segment of SBS Power FM's 'Escape at Two Cult Show.'
On that day, DJ Kim Tae-kyun mentioned Ailee, who returned after releasing the mini album '(Me) moir' on the 20th, and said, "It seems like a lot of effort went into the comeback. Mr. P-Dogg, who is famous as the producer for BTS, produced all the tracks."
In response, Ailee explained, "Yes. Since all three tracks were produced by him, I think the overall quality of the album was very good. I was introduced to the music, and while listening, I felt like this song was for me, so I asked if I could record it right away, and he said, 'I like this song, let's give it a try,' and that's how it happened."
Kim Tae-kyun joked, "It must be really good since you shot music videos for all three tracks. The production costs are no joke; we will need a lot of money for the wedding." Ailee candidly revealed, "I spent more money preparing for this than for my wedding."
He said, "The song was so good that I wanted to showcase a lot of creative moments, not just musically but visually this time," and highlighted 'Meaning' as a song he particularly wanted to introduce.
Ailee explained, "This song is called 'Meaning.' It's the only song that I won't sing live today. This song was meaningful to me while I was singing it, and it was also meaningful when we filmed the music video. In the music video, there's home video footage from my childhood. In the opening scene, there is video of me celebrating my birthday with my mother and younger brother, who passed away when I was young, and my mother says, 'Now Ye-jin, sing a song,' and the music video begins."
She continued, "The meaning of this song is about remembering those who have left and saying, 'You gave my life so much meaning.' In fact, I have experienced a lot of heartbreaking separations recently, including my mother, my maternal grandfather, and my dear brother Wheesung, who meant so much to me. I want to introduce this song with the hope that if there is someone you want to remember while listening to this music, you can cherish beautiful memories with them."
Then, Kim Tae-kyun comforted her, saying, "Our Cult Show has the highest listener ratings in heaven. Everyone there must be listening. My mother is listening too. So I'm sure it will reach them."
Meanwhile, the late Wheesung was found in a state of cardiac arrest at an apartment located in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, at 6:29 p.m. on the 10th. He was 43 years old. Upon hearing the shocking news, Ailee said, "I was looking through the photos we took together while crying so much yesterday, but there wasn't a single normal photo. It's so us. I was watching our performances together and it reminded me how happy we were. I should have had more performances together with him."
He said, "Sometimes he was a strict producer, sometimes like an older brother who enjoyed teasing me. Sometimes he was an incredibly cool senior. You know that he was the most precious connection in my life, right? The reason I can still sing in Korea is all thanks to him, and I'm really grateful. You know how much I appreciate it, right? He was my best stage partner ever, and he will always be my brother. Thank you so much, and I'm really sorry. I'll miss you a lot. Let's meet again someday and sing joyfully together."
