The production director of 'Convenient Restaurant' revealed the reason for casting actor Jang Sin-young.
On the afternoon of the 27th, a press conference for the KBS 2TV entertainment program 'New Launch Convenient Restaurant' (abbreviated as Convenient Restaurant) was held at the KBS Art Hall in Yeouido, Yeongdeungpo District, Seoul. The event was attended by MC Boom and fixed panelists Oh My Girl Hyojeong, chef Lee Yeon-bok, 'Convenient Chef' Lee Jung-hyun, Kim Jae-joong, and Lee Sang-woo, who discussed the program with PD Yoon Byung-il under the guidance of announcer Kim Jin-woong.
'Convenient Restaurant,' which started broadcasting in 2019, has entered its sixth year as a long-running entertainment program. Recently, Jang Sin-young made headlines by joining as a new 'Convenient Chef,' returning to television through 'Convenient Restaurant' despite the controversy surrounding her husband and fellow actor Kang Kyung-jun's infidelity and alleged affair.
Was there any burden in casting due to the controversy surrounding the participants' private lives? PD Yoon Byung-il noted, "It is true that we felt a bit of pressure when casting. We want to invite those who are truly passionate about cooking."
He particularly emphasized, "After meeting and observing Ms. Jang Sin-young, I found her to be very sincere about cooking and side dishes," adding, "While there may be aspects of (the participants') private lives, I thought it would be good to publicize her cooking. Especially, I think her side dishes are specialized, so we decided to focus on the cooking aspect in the show."
'Convenient Restaurant' airs every Friday at 8:30 p.m.
