On the 26th, a wave of donations from the entertainment industry was revealed for wildfire damage and extinguishing efforts that began in the Uiseong-gun area of North Gyeongsang Province and spread significantly through various relief organizations such as Hope Bridge National Disaster Relief Association and the Korean Red Cross.
In particular, IU donated a total of 200 million won, giving 100 million won each to support wildfire victims and to improve the treatment and awareness of firefighters dedicated to disaster sites. Regarding this, she noted, "I hope this can provide a little help to those affected and I extend my sincere condolences to the victims. I truly hope the wildfire is extinguished quickly without further loss of life." She continued, "I deeply appreciate the dedication of the firefighters who are working hard to extinguish the flames."
Bae Suzy also contributed 100 million won to help extinguish the wildfire damage. Her agency, Management Forest, stated, "Bae Suzy wanted to express her support upon hearing the news that the wildfire damage is spreading and that help is desperately needed. We hope the wildfire is extinguished soon and that neighbors can return to their daily lives."
Meanwhile, Park Bo-young donated 50 million won to improve firefighters' working conditions. Her agency, BH Entertainment, explained, "Park Bo-young has always deeply felt the hardships faced by firefighters in disaster situations and has always had a grateful heart. She decided to make this donation with the hope that firefighters can work in better conditions."
Actress Han Ji-min, who is also part of BH Entertainment, donated 50 million won. Additionally, actress Go Min-si, member of Girl's Day and actress Hyeri, and Go Youn-jung also contributed 50 million won each to support wildfire victims. The music industry also came together for the recovery from the wildfire damage. In particular, singer Young Tak, who hails from Andong, the area affected by the wildfires, donated 100 million won to the wildfire relief. Lee Chan-won and Jang Min-ho each donated 100 million won. Han Ji-min's partner, Choi Jeong-hoon from the band Jannabi, added significance by donating 10 million won along with member Kim Do-hyeong. Additionally, Jinwoo of Winner, singer Lee Seung-yoon, NC member Hae-chan, and virtual idol Blade have also joined in the donations.
'National MC' Yoo Jae-suk and lyricist Kim Ina, as well as broadcaster Jang Seong-kyu and Yoon Tae-jin, also contributed to the disaster fund, while YouTuber Chimchakman, formerly a webtoon artist, donated 20 million won, adding, "I send my deep condolences and sincerely wish for a swift recovery."
The wildfire that started recently in Uiseong, North Gyeongsang Province, has spread to nearby four cities and counties fueled by strong winds and has been expanding for five days. According to forest authorities on the 26th, around 6:30 a.m., 87 firefighting helicopters, 5,421 personnel, and 656 firefighting equipment were deployed to extinguish the main fires in areas including Uiseong, Andong, Yeongyang, Cheongsong, and Yeongdeok. However, there have been fatalities reported due to the wildfire spread, including accidents involving firefighting helicopters. Of the deceased discovered in Yeongyang County, Cheongsong County, Yeongdeok County, and Andong City, a total of 21 individuals have been found.
