Jeon Bae-soo made a special appearance in "When Life Gives You Tangerines," adding flavor to the drama.
"When Life Gives You Tangerines" (written by Im Sang-chun, directed by Kim Won-seok, produced by Fan Entertainment and Baram Pictures) is a Netflix series that unfolds the adventurous life of Ae-soon, a 'mischievous rebel' born in Jeju, and Gwan-sik, a 'clumsy fool,' across the four seasons. While generating cross-generational empathy and solidifying its popularity both domestically and internationally, Jeon Bae-soo joined as a diverse special cast in "When Life Gives You Tangerines."
In the third act, released on 21st, Jeon Bae-soo appears as Song Young-sam, the owner of a boarding house on a hill in Seoul where Geum-myeong (played by IU) stays after returning from studying in Japan in 1990. Ignoring Geum-myeong's request for a doorknob, he imposes a strict rule of 'no boyfriends allowed,' threatening eviction without mercy if violated, which reveals Young-sam's meticulous and strict character.
Meanwhile, Young-sam's daughter Bu-seon (played by Jeong I-seo) secretly continued her relationship with Chung-seop (played by Kim Sun-ho) away from her father's eyes, and eventually, their urgent escape plan unwittingly entangled Geum-myeong's room, leading to a commotion. Chung-seop secretly rummaging through Geum-myeong's closet and Young-sam's sharp and stubborn gaze urging him to come out added delightful yet intense tension.
In this way, Jeon Bae-soo made a special appearance as the unpleasant and strict boarding house owner in "When Life Gives You Tangerines," showing a short yet powerful impact. Jeon Bae-soo has displayed an indelible presence throughout four works with writer Im Sang-chun, including dramas "Back to the 30s," "Fight for My Way," and "When the Camellia Blooms," making the nickname "Im Sang-chun's persona" circulate.
Proving his ability as a trustworthy actor with seasoned performances that leave a strong impression in each work, Jeon Bae-soo's continuous strides this year, following "Undercover High School" and "When Life Gives You Tangerines," have raised further expectations.
Meanwhile, "When Life Gives You Tangerines," featuring Jeon Bae-soo's special appearance, is currently streaming exclusively on Netflix.
