The hearing for the appeal filed by the members of the group NewJeans against the court's decision to prohibit independent activities will be held on April 9.

According to the legal community on the 26th, the Seoul Central District Court's Civil Division 50 (Chief Judge Kim Sang-hoon) will hold a hearing on the provisional injunction appeal filed by the five members of NewJeans at 2 p.m. on April 9.

Earlier, on the 21st, the Seoul Central District Court's Civil Division 50 (Chief Judge Kim Sang-hoon) accepted and ruled on the provisional injunction request filed by ADOR against the five members of NewJeans to prohibit 'the maintenance of agency status and the signing of advertising contracts.'

The court ruled that "it is difficult to assert that the creditor (ADOR) has violated significant obligations under the exclusive contract in this case, causing grounds for termination or that the relationship of trust between the two parties has been irreparably damaged, based solely on the claims and evidence submitted by the debtors (the five members of NewJeans)."

According to the court's ruling that activities by the members, either independently (including through legal representatives) or through third parties without prior approval or consent from ADOR, are prohibited, the members will have difficulty engaging in independent activities for the time being, including using the new name 'NJZ.'

In response to the ruling, ADOR said, "We deeply appreciate the wise judgment of the provisional injunction court. Having legally confirmed its status as NewJeans' agency, ADOR will fulfill its responsibility in supporting the artists in the future." However, the NewJeans side stated, "We, NJZ, respect the court's decision," while noting that "the decision did not adequately consider that the members' trust in ADOR has completely broken down."

Subsequently, the members submitted an appeal to the court on the same day.

Meanwhile, the members of NewJeans declared a suspension of activities, stating, "I feel heavy hearted to bring this news. Today’s performance may be the last for the time being. We have decided to stop all activities to respect the court's decision" during a performance at ComplexCon held in Hong Kong on the 23rd.
