Actor Cha Woo-min revealed a new photoshoot and interview through Arena. Cha is currently drawing attention for his role as the illegitimate child 'Ji Seon-woo' of a conglomerate chairman in the drama Buried Hearts.
Cha Woo-min was a student who was passionate about swimming in middle school and judo in high school. He dreamed of becoming an actor during his second year of high school. It all started when he accidentally went to an internet café with a friend and searched for 'theater and film major.' Cha noted that he has always had a curiosity about movies, even before he thought about becoming an actor. "My mother is a cinephile. She showed me a lot of various films since I was in elementary school, and now our tastes in movies are completely alike. Now that I think about it, there are films that make me wonder, 'Why did she show me this movie back then?' I think she wanted to show me that there are various types of movies in the world rather than just entertaining films."
Cha Woo-min also introduced a scene in Buried Hearts that he felt proud of. "It's the scene where I ride a motorcycle. It wasn't so much that I liked my acting, but rather I felt I overcame myself during the shoot. Before the shoot, while practicing, I fell off when riding the motorcycle and got seriously injured. Since I wasn't used to handling the gears, the front wheel lifted when I started. I scraped my entire right arm badly when I fell. For a while, I had a hard time even looking at motorcycles, but what can I do? I still had to shoot. Although I was trembling inside, I managed to overcome my fear and shot that scene."
Cha Woo-min said he is at a time when he needs to build his filmography and expressed gratitude just to be able to take on roles regardless of genre. I was curious about what he considers a 'good actor.' "Isn't it an actor who has a human touch? My father always says that in any profession, one must be a good person first. While I want to be a faithful actor in my profession, I also want to be a wonderful person in character. When I look up interviews of actors I wish to resemble, they all say similar things. They remind us that acting is just one of many professions. I think a good actor is someone who knows how to keep that boundary."
Actor Cha Woo-min's new photoshoot and interview can be found in the April issue of Arena Homme Plus.
