The member Lara of the idol group KATSEYE, under HYBE, revealed that she is a lesbian.
On the 24th, Lara confessed her sexual identity by stating that she likes the same sex rather than the opposite sex through the fan communication platform Weverse.
Lara said, "Coming out can indeed be scary. Moreover, as a person of color, I felt fear due to the barriers, but I am proud of myself."
She added, "I am grateful for the people in my life now and for the fans who support me," and said, "My sexual identity is a part of me. I am not at all ashamed of this, and I like it."
Lara debuted as a member of the localized American girl group KATSEYE through the audition program "The Debut: Dream Academy," which aired last year.
KATSEYE is a multinational girl group co-produced by HYBE and Geffen Records, consisting of six members: Daniella (U.S.), Lara (U.S.), Manon (Switzerland), Megan (U.S.), Sophia (Philippines), and Yoonchae (Korea). After their debut, they have been active with digital singles like "Debut," their first EP "SIS (Soft Is Strong)," and the remix single "Touch (ft. YEONJUN)."
