In a story about a couple’s violence leading to a divorce crisis, Lee Soo-geun and Seo Jang-hoon were shocked.

On the 24th, in KBS Joy’s “Ask Us Anything Fortune Teller” (hereafter “Ask Us Anything”), a man with a Japanese wife who is 15 years younger appeared.

The man stated, “I am going through divorce proceedings with my 15-year-younger Japanese wife. I want to win back her heart.”

The two had been in a long-distance relationship. The man said, “(During the relationship) my wife gave me a plane ticket. I stayed for a week and then returned. My wife cried. Seeing that, I thought it would be better to live together, so I suggested marriage.”

The man remarked, “My mother-in-law had a fortune-telling done, and it said the compatibility was not good, so she advised against marriage. My wife insisted on calling me to Japan. She said we should live together for now. We began a happy cohabitation.” He then added, “A month later, my wife’s violent tendencies surfaced, which I had not known about before.”

The man recounted, “My parents divorced, and my father had serious drinking problems. When I mentioned my wife was drinking again, she grabbed the back of my neck. She threw a punch at my face with her left hand. I ended up losing a tooth. From then on, she would hit me every time she drank.” This statement shocked the others present.

The man revealed, “She said she couldn’t live and then brought a knife. She said, if we were going to Korea, we should die together. I felt threatened; I also changed. Feeling my life was in danger, I completely lost my rationality. I squeezed her neck. We reconciled and got along well, but after about two months, my wife tried to hit me, so I struck first before she could hit me. I promised not to lay a hand on her again and made up.”

The man and his wife continued the violence by slapping each other. Seo Jang-hoon remarked, “You also have many issues.” Subsequently, the wife and their daughter left the house, and the man disclosed that he fainted from the shock. The wife eventually reported the man for assault, leading to a 10-day detention.

While listening to the story, Seo Jang-hoon sharply advised, “In my view, it’s best not to live together at this point. This can’t just be considered a joke when you’re choking each other like this. No couple fights like this. Fighting this way indicates a lack of affection for each other. The problem is that when both get angry, you don’t know what they will do. You could pull out a knife. This is an unusual situation. If your wife attacks, will you not be able to endure it?”

Seo Jang-hoon said, “If the gauge fills up, it will happen again. For the future, there’s no need to live together. One side must avoid the other. You both should go your separate ways before something worse happens.” Lee Soo-geun added, “You’ve even filed a complaint, so does it make sense to reconcile?” suggesting a divorce cautiously.
