Actor Kim Soo-hyun has ultimately made the drastic decision to cancel his fan meeting in Taiwan, despite the risk of compensation. This is due to the fallout from the personal life controversy surrounding the late Kim Sae-ron.
On the 25th, the Taiwan Seven-Eleven announced through its official social media account that Kim Soo-hyun's fan meeting has been canceled, generating renewed interest.
According to the Taiwan Seven-Eleven, "Due to schedule adjustments for Kim Soo-hyun, the 'Kim Soo-hyun exclusive fan meeting' originally scheduled during the Kaohsiung Cherry Blossom Festival on the 30th will be canceled."
It appears to stem from the recent fallout surrounding the personal life controversy. The bereaved family of the late Kim Sae-ron claimed through the YouTube channel "Garosero Research Institute" (abbreviated as "Gaseyeon") that Kim Soo-hyun and the deceased had been dating for six years since she was 15 years old and that they pressured her to repay 700 million won, borrowed to settle the accident, despite her suffering from financial difficulties after halting activities following her DUI traffic accident in 2022.
In this context, Kim Soo-hyun admitted to having dated the late actress Kim Sae-ron in the past but clarified that they were together when she was an adult and not a minor. He also addressed the repayment of 700 million won, stating it is "false information," and has engaged in a truth battle. As a result, Kim Soo-hyun has effectively placed his activities on hold.
In South Korea, following the entertainment program "Good Day," the release date of the next project "Knock-Off" has been indefinitely postponed, leading to increased interest in Kim Soo-hyun's attendance at the Taiwan fan meeting. This extensive attention is likely to have placed a psychological burden on Kim Soo-hyun.
If the event is canceled, it is expected that the penalty alone will amount to 30 million yuan (approximately 13.227 billion won). Ultimately, the organizers stated they plan to fully refund ticket prices. However, aside from Kim Soo-hyun's absence, the Kaohsiung Cherry Blossom Festival is expected to proceed as planned.
