Singer Lee Seung-hwan has filed a lawsuit against a cyber troll spreading fake news.
On the 24th, Lee posted on his social media, "I have submitted the lawsuit. There are a total of five defendants, including 'Cheonjo Countries Parangyi.' Dream Factory will pursue this to the end," along with a receipt of the lawsuit.
Earlier, Lee posted a photo to certify his attendance at his niece's wedding held in the United States, stating, "I came to the United States for my niece's wedding. Of course, I was not denied entry by the CIA or HTML." Due to his open support for the impeachment of President Yoon Suk-yeol, some far-right YouTubers created rumors about Lee being denied entry into the United States and reported him to the CIA.
One YouTuber posted a thumbnail video titled, "Seung-hwan, do you want to bet with me?" and presented a ridiculous logic claiming that Lee's assertion of entry into the United States was false. They argued that there were no photos of his married niece or pictures taken with acquaintances, claiming that the photos Lee posted were edited, and suggested a bet to reveal airport or wedding photos to draw attention.
Ultimately, Lee pointed out, "The conspiracy you raised saying, 'Seung-hwan, do you want to bet with me?' is that 'Lee Seung-hwan did not enter the U.S., yet uploaded edited photos as if he had entered.' Then, the issue is simple: my entry and exit from the U.S. ① The entry and exit record 'i-94' issued by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, ② the 'Certificate of Facts on Entry and Exit' issued by the Korean Immigration Service is the most official document from both countries that proves this.
He continued, "If my entry and exit from the U.S. is recognized through these two documents, you lose, and if it is not recognized, I lose. You might say you can't trust these two documents. If you suspect that I would manipulate these documents, please report me for the crime of document forgery. In that case, I swear I will not file a false accusation. However, promises must be kept. You must not run away."
However, on the 24th, Lee stated, "There was no contact regarding the accusation, so I went to the 'Gangdong Police Station' because I was eager to get investigated quickly. It's close to my company. But they said there are no accusations filed under my name. Even when I mentioned that it seems the complainants wrote my resident registration number incorrectly, they still said there is none registered under my name."
And he provocatively remarked, "Ah. Seriously. Far-right supporters of the 'Defense of Rebellion.' Is this how you handle things?!! You said my trip to the U.S. and entry-exit documents are all lies, yet you're making excuses that are colorful and generous?!! Hurry up and file your complaint today!! I'm upset, seriously."
