Is top model Yano Shiho from Japan going to get angry again? Ahn Jung-hwan also captured the audience with the charm of Choo Sung-hoon, who ultimately made him smile.
On the 24th, the 41st episode of the MBC entertainment program "Puk Sihmyun Dahyang" (abbreviated as "Pukdahyang") featured 'CEO Ahn' Ahn Jung-hwan, his childhood friend Choo Sung-hoon, along with Kim Nam-il, Kim Dong-jun, basketball player Lee Kwan-hee, and master chef Lee Mi-young operating a restaurant on a deserted island. According to Nielsen Korea, this broadcast recorded a viewership rating of 5.4% (based on the metropolitan area), the highest among all entertainment programs aired on Monday.
That day, Ahn Jung-hwan took the workers, including Choo Sung-hoon, to the golden fishing grounds that are currently in season. The goal was 30 fish, but as they struggled to catch any, even the confident Ahn Jung-hwan became anxious. However, Choo Sung-hoon, embodying the spirit of "Ajo-ssi," which means uncle in a friendly way, motivated the exhausted workers not to give up. At that moment, Ahn Jung-hwan caught a large bass, which he had never seen before, and the mood turned around. This was followed by the catch of a giant-sized sea bream, further elevating the atmosphere. Additionally, various species like wild shishamo, flounder, and sea cucumber were caught, achieving unprecedented success in the history of "Pukdahyang."
For the workers who returned with an abundance of catch, master chef Lee Mi-young quickly prepared a meal. The chef decided to make "bass surdari-tang" using the leftover heads and bones from the bass sashimi. To this, they also added handmade dumplings, and Choo Sung-hoon took on the task of kneading the dough. Thanks to his strong muscles working diligently, chewy dumplings were completed. With a spicy soup and chewy dumplings, everyone enjoyed a perfect meal before heading out again for more seafood gathering.
Ahn Jung-hwan put a leader's badge on his friend Choo Sung-hoon, who kept trying to avoid work, to motivate him to work harder. They decided that he and Choo Sung-hoon would each lead their teams for the gathering. Ahn Jung-hwan's strategy worked as Choo Sung-hoon became determined to catch more than Ahn Jung-hwan's team. However, while Ahn Jung-hwan’s team continued to catch sea snails, squid, and sea cucumbers, Choo Sung-hoon's team remained silent. Furthermore, when Ahn Jung-hwan kept checking how much they caught and interfering, Choo Sung-hoon exploded with anger, saying, "I’m really fed up with this."
Rejuvenated, Choo Sung-hoon began giving a storm of instructions to his team members, Lee Kwan-hee and Kim Dong-jun. At this point, Lee Kwan-hee started catching sea snails, and the basket of Choo Sung-hoon's team gradually filled up. Additionally, they also caught abalone and octopus, which boosted Choo Sung-hoon’s spirit. Although there was another clash between Ahn Jung-hwan and Choo Sung-hoon while verifying the quantity of seafood caught, everyone returned joyfully due to the plentiful ingredients.
Thanks to the abundant ingredients, the anticipation for a feast to serve the guests also increased. In preparation for dinner, Ahn Jung-hwan and Choo Sung-hoon started a verbal battle over who would prepare the octopus. In the end, Ahn Jung-hwan won, and the octopus was entrusted to Choo Sung-hoon. Choo Sung-hoon peeled the octopus as if it were being skinned, resulting in an awkward-looking octopus. He also diligently scraped off the scales from the bass, making it smooth like baby skin. Before starting to filet the bass, he humorously remarked, "My cutting board is so old it surprised me," showing Choo Sung-hoon’s obsession with cleanliness. He previously revealed his home without his wife Yano Shiho's consent on his personal YouTube channel, showcasing an unclean lifestyle that incited Yano Shiho's wrath.
While the meal preparation was going smoothly, Choo Sung-hoon made a significant blunder. He accidentally dropped the "sea snail skewers" that were to be served to the guests onto the ground. Since they had prepared just enough for the number of guests, "CEO Ahn" Ahn Jung-hwan was understandably furious when one guest could not be served. Initially, Choo Sung-hoon tried to brush it off, but he dropped another skewer shortly after, further freezing the atmosphere.
In the meantime, Kim Nam-il cleaned the dropped skewer and served it to the workers. In some ways, thanks to Choo Sung-hoon, the workers ended up with an extra skewer. The skewers, drizzled with a special teriyaki sauce from the chef, quelled Ahn Jung-hwan’s anger. Choo Sung-hoon lightheartedly quipped, "You should be thanking me. You’re eating because of me," turning the mood around.
Despite a minor incident, all the courses—starting with "perilla leaf sashimi" with flounder and bass, followed by teriyaki sauce-glazed "sea snail skewers," and ending with a spicy "octopus seafood stew"—were successfully completed. After serving the guests, the workers had their meal. At this time, Choo Sung-hoon asked Ahn Jung-hwan, "How do you find filming with me after a long time? Isn’t it fun?" Ahn Jung-hwan responded, "Why are you suddenly leading? It’s cocky," and Choo Sung-hoon rebutted, "Better than the soccer guys," refusing to back down. Ultimately, thanks to the amusing banter between Ahn Jung-hwan and Choo Sung-hoon, it was an entertaining time filled with laughter.
In a preview released at the end of the broadcast, 1st generation idols such as Park Jun-hyung from g.o.d, Son Ho-young, Moon Hee-joon from H.O.T., Chae-ri-na from Rula, and Ayumi from Sugar all gathered on the deserted island, raising viewers' expectations. "Puk Sihmyun Dahyang" airs every Monday night at 9 p.m.
