"Riding Life" Jeon Hye-jin uncovered the illegitimate admissions scandal at an elite private elementary school and turned the dice in the opposite direction.
On the 24th, the seventh episode of the Genie TV original drama "Riding Life" (written by Seong Yun-a and Jo Won-dong, directed by Kim Cheol-kyu) showcased Jeong-eun (played by Jeon Hye-jin) escaping the crisis of being expelled from her daughter Seo-yoon's (played by Kim Sa-rang) English academy. Instead, the super mom Ho-gyeong (played by Park Bo-kyung), who was trying to oust them, uncovered the illegitimate admissions scandal at the elite primary school, shaking the English academy to its core.
During the vote held by Class A moms led by Ho-gyeong, Jeong-eun was blindsided. Believing firmly in her entrance into Class A, Jeong-eun protested; however, Ho-gyeong said she should leave the academy based on the results. Additionally, she learned a more shocking fact: Jeong-eun's mother, Jia (played by Jo Min-soo), had started dating Yeong-wook (played by Jung Jin-young), Ho-gyeong's father-in-law, during their riding sessions at the academy. She also discovered that Ho-gyeong had protected Jia, who was expelled from school, even during middle school as "Song Ju-hee." Jeong-eun had given up on attending a specialized high school because her mother lost her job at that time, leading to another unfortunate entanglement between the two.
Jeong-eun poured out her resentment, blaming it all on Jia. Jeong-eun yelled, "How can you do this to me, Mom? As if making me collapse was not enough, now it’s my daughter?" and added, "Can't you even see your own daughter right in front of you?" She reflected on how, since she was young, her mother always said she was fine, so Jeong-eun wouldn't worry about the struggles of raising her alone, saying, "Why didn’t you ask me once? Are you truly okay? Living as your daughter has been so hard on me" as she unleashed her pent-up emotions.
Jia was shocked and regretted and cried, realizing the hurt she caused her daughter. She returned the ring Yeong-wook had given her, said goodbye, and left home. Jeong-eun told Seo-yoon, "From now on, I will do everything," while deleting Jia's contact number from Seo-yoon's phone.
Jeong-eun tried to move Seo-yoon to a different English academy, but even taking the level test had long waiting lines. While feeling hopeless, Jeong-eun received a tip from her friend Ji-sook (played by Park Su-yeon) about irregularities during the lottery selection for the elite private elementary school and also found an internal whistleblower to confirm Ho-gyeong's misconduct through past reports. It was Min-ho's English tutor, who had been dismissed by Ho-gyeong. Amidst all the mothers at the English academy, Jeong-eun boldly declared to Ho-gyeong, "Seo-yoon, who you took away, must reclaim her place," creating a thrilling moment.
As the final episode approached, a storm of developments unfolded. Jeong-eun successfully revealed Ho-gyeong's wrongdoings, allowing Seo-yoon to enter Class A. However, daughter Seo-yoon received the psychological evaluation result of "academic pressure" and became estranged from her mother Jia after a fierce argument. With an unpredictable continuation until the final episode, it remains to be seen whether the three generations of Jeong-eun, Jia, and Seo-yoon can smile together at the end of "Riding Life." The audience's hopes for the happiness of the three mothers and daughters are gaining attention in this final story.
"Riding Life" will air its final episode tonight (25th) at 10 p.m. on channel ENA.
