Actor Lee Jun-young showcased a sweet and charming romantic relationship with IU.
Lee Jun-young played the role of Park Young-beom in the Netflix series 'When Life Gives You Tangerines' (written by Lim Sang-chun, directed by Kim Won-seok), which was released on the 21st. He depicted a love full of excitement with his girlfriend Geum-myeong (played by IU), raising the romance index of global viewers.
'When Life Gives You Tangerines' is a series that unfolds the adventurous lives of two characters: Aesoon, a 'rebellious darling' born in Jeju, and Kwan-shik, a 'foolish but steadfast' man. Although they grew up together in Jeju, they had completely different personalities, from their innocent teenage years to the unpredictable youth phase, and through the struggles of adult life with the challenges that life throws at them.
In Acts 3 (episodes 9-12), Young-beom and Geum-myeong are portrayed as continuing their exciting romance and opening a new chapter in their lives. Young-beom, who had gone abroad, visited the movie theater where Geum-myeong works on Christmas, and the sight of them sharing a passionate hug followed by a sweet kiss brought smiles to viewers.
Young-beom revealed his 'loving' side, saying, "My family doesn't know I'm in Korea. I was supposed to come at the end of the month, but I slipped out secretly," and he showered Geum-myeong with affectionate terms, saying, "You are cuter than a dog when it comes to cuteness." His adoring gaze toward Geum-myeong naturally evoked deep immersion from viewers.
The show also depicted the struggles faced by the couple as Young-beom's mother disapproved of Geum-myeong, leading to their eventual breakup after a long-term relationship. Geum-myeong's sharp remark, "I would be happy without you," prompted Young-beom to cling on, asking, "Are you really going to live without me?" as he shed tears, showcasing his touching devotion, which evoked a sense of poignancy. Lee Jun-young's realistic emotional acting moved audiences to tears.
Lee Jun-young, who shows growing acting skills and diverse charms in each project, captivated viewers with his deeper performance in 'When Life Gives You Tangerines', reaffirming his presence as a 'rising star'.
The final fourth act episode of 'When Life Gives You Tangerines', featuring Lee Jun-young, will be released on Netflix on the 28th.
