Lee Byung-hun from 'Game' revealed his son's reaction and adorable aspects after watching the movie.
An interview with Lee Byung-hun, the lead actor of the film 'Game,' took place at a café in Sogyeok-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, on the morning of the 21st.
The movie 'Game' (directed by Kim Hyung-joo, distributed by Bypeom Studio Co., Ltd., produced by Film Company Wolgwang Co., Ltd., co-produced by BH Entertainment) depicts the story of Cho Hun-hyun, Korea's top Go legend (played by Lee Byung-hun), who challenges once more to reach the top with his innate competitive spirit after losing a match against his disciple, Lee Chang-ho (played by Yoo Ah-in). Set against the backdrop of the 1990s when Go was revered as the ultimate brain sport, it is based on the real-life figure Cho Hun-hyun, recognized globally as a Go legend, much like modern sports stars such as Kim Yuna, Park Ji-sung, and Son Heung-min.
Lee Byung-hun passionately portrayed the real-life figure, Cho Hun-hyun, the greatest Go emperor in the film. Channeling the image of the Go master in his youth, he delivered a performance that was almost as if he had changed faces. Furthermore, Lee meticulously expressed the finger joints placing the Go stones with incredible detail after much effort.
At the recent VIP premiere, Lee Byung-hun's wife, Lee Min-jung, their 10-year-old son, and his father-in-law and mother also attended as a family. 'Game' was reportedly the film his father-in-law was looking forward to the most.
Regarding his wife Lee Min-jung's reaction, he noted, "She said she felt sad. Thinking it was because of me, I asked, 'What made you sad?' and she said she felt sad when Lee Chang-ho left. (laughs) I think my acting also contributed to getting there."
Lee Byung-hun, who also showed his movie to his son, said, "The first movie I showed him was 'Masquerade,' the next was 'Joint Security Area (JSA),' and the third was 'Game.' He didn't understand 'JSA' as much as I expected. He couldn't quite grasp the North-South relations and asked, 'Why can't they be friends?' In this time's viewing of 'Game,' he said it was really sad. I think he felt the same way as Lee Min-jung when Lee Chang-ho left."
Lee Byung-hun explained, "When I show my work to my son, he is very happy and hugs me tightly, which lasts for two days. When he was very young, he seemed to say, 'My dad is Lee Byung-hun.' Now, if someone on the street gives me a nod, he runs to me, grabs my hand, and looks up at me as if to say, 'I am his son~.'"
'Game' is set to be released on the 26th.
