Through the new SBS Friday-Saturday drama 'Haunted Palace,' the 'irreplaceable actor' Kim Ji-hoon transforms into a charismatic monarch.
The new SBS Friday-Saturday drama 'Haunted Palace' (written by Yoon Soo-jung, directed by Yoon Sung-sik), which will air in April as a follow-up to 'Buried Hearts,' is a fantasy romantic comedy where Yeori, a shaman who rejects her fate, and I-mugi Kang-cheol, trapped in the body of her first love Yun-gap, confront the vengeful pal-chaek-gwi, leading to a tumultuous battle for the fate of the nation. Renowned director Yoon Sung-sik, known for producing hits such as 'Mr. Queen,' 'Lee Soon Shin is the Best,' 'Bridal Mask,' and 'Dae Joyeong,' teams up with writer Yoon Soo-jung, who penned 'The King's Face' and 'Cheer Up!' The synergy among talented actors, including Yook Sung-jae (as Yun-gap/Kang-cheol), Kim Ji-yeon (as Yeori), and Kim Ji-hoon (as Lee Jeong), is highly anticipated.
Among the cast, Kim Ji-hoon captivates attention as he takes on the role of the fictitious king 'Lee Jeong,' who confronts the vengeful pal-chaek-gwi after 15 years of challenging himself in historical dramas. 'Lee Jeong' is a virtuous king who prioritizes his country and people above all, holding steadfast beliefs against the entry of mediums, which is prohibited by national law. However, as ominous events unfold within the palace, he joins forces with his favored subject Yun-gap (played by Yook Sung-jae) and Yeori (played by Kim Ji-yeon), leading to a desperate struggle for the nation's fate against the pal-chaek-gwi.
In addition, a striking image of Kim Ji-hoon with an unusual expression on the throne has captured interest. In the drama, Kim Ji-hoon will cooperate with I-mugi Yook Sung-jae and shaman Kim Ji-yeon due to the bizarre incidents occurring within the palace. Curiosity heightens about what the true identity of the pal-chaek-gwi, which even a strong monarch fears, is, and how the unprecedented alliance between the king, who bears the fate of a nation, and I-mugi, an otherworldly being, along with the chosen shaman, will unfold.
Together with this, Kim Ji-hoon’s unusual expression on the throne raises excitement. In the drama, he will collaborate with I-mugi Yook Sung-jae and shaman Kim Ji-yeon due to the strange incidents occurring in the palace. It raises anticipation about how the strong monarch will deal with the pal-chaek-gwi, which has plunged him into fear, and what kind of impact the unprecedented alliance will have among the king, the I-mugi transcending humanity, and the chosen shaman.
The production team of 'Haunted Palace' stated, "Kim Ji-hoon, who has emerged as an irreplaceable actor by radiating a unique aura in previous works, will once again shine with explosive charisma in the role of the monarch 'Lee Jeong' in 'Haunted Palace.' From his intense presence commanding the treacherous courtiers, to his heartfelt paternal affection for his family, and the unguarded chemistry with Yook Sung-jae and Kim Ji-yeon, please keep an eye on Kim Ji-hoon’s performance, which will redefine his best character."
