Yoon Seong-bin apologized for his controversial remarks.
On the 19th, Yoon Seong-bin bowed his head and said through his YouTube channel "Iron Bin Yoon Seong-bin," "First of all, I sincerely apologize to the viewers who were angered and hurt by my remarks in the recently uploaded video and my subsequent response."
He added, "I sincerely apologize once again for not considering that my expression, tone, and attitude in conveying my words might seem like I was belittling and degrading someone."
However, Yoon Seong-bin stated that there was no intent to belittle anyone, saying, "I want to emphasize that I absolutely had no intention of belittling or demeaning anyone. As many have pointed out, I am often ignorant of the overall social atmosphere and various aspects, and I was only asking out of curiosity."
He continued, "However, regardless of my ignorance and intention, I sincerely apologize for not being able to respond quickly to the current situation," adding, "I will continuously remind myself of these shortcomings and reflect on them to improve going forward."
In a previously released video, Yoon Seong-bin was seen chatting with staff. While eating braised duck, Yoon Seong-bin expressed curiosity about a staff member's comment saying, "It's a kangaroo generation," asking, "What is a kangaroo generation?" The staff explained, "It means living with your parents. Even in their 30s, many belong to the kangaroo generation," to which Yoon Seong-bin responded, "Why is that? Why don't they become independent?"
When the staff said, "It's because they don't have money," Yoon Seong-bin asked, "Is it because they don't have money or because they spend it freely? Why do they not have money? Is it because the cost of living is high?" The staff insisted, "After paying rent and living expenses, there's nothing left," but Yoon Seong-bin pointedly replied, "Can't they save on living expenses?"
The staff explained, "If you receive minimum wage, it's about 200 to 230, but rent, maintenance costs, and monthly expenses add up to 1 million won. Then, you have to live on about 130, and when you account for food and transportation, there’s hardly anything left." Yoon Seong-bin advised, "When you're a newbie, you should go live with your parents for a while."
Following Yoon Seong-bin's remarks, criticism and negative comments poured in, and ultimately, Yoon Seong-bin blocked the comments section and made the video private.
