KBS has expressed its position regarding allegations related to the state of emergency.
On the 20th, KBS said, "Reports suggesting that KBS was planning to report on espionage charges or may have received information about espionage cases from the Defense Security Command are groundless."
KBS also explained, "At the time of the state of emergency declaration, we were only informed that there would be a government announcement similar to that of other broadcasting companies, and the allegation that we knew the announcement's content in advance is also entirely untrue."
In particular, KBS noted, "The indiscriminate raising of suspicions inside and outside the company greatly tarnishes the reputation of public broadcasting KBS, which is a social asset," and "We will respond resolutely to such behavior in the future, and will not hesitate to take legal action if necessary."
Position statement from KBS
Allegations against KBS regarding the state of emergency have exceeded acceptable bounds. When reports are published based solely on testimonies during the prosecution's investigation, articles that directly quote them are being widely reproduced, and the union is exploiting this to assert without basis that the allegations are true.
Some media outlets reported, based on testimonies from the prosecution's investigation, that KBS was involved in the espionage law propaganda of the Defense Security Command. Prior to that, there were also reports suggesting that KBS may have been aware of the state of emergency declaration in advance.

The indiscriminate raising of suspicions inside and outside the company greatly tarnishes the reputation of public broadcasting KBS, which is a social asset. In the future, we will respond resolutely to such behavior and will not hesitate to take legal action if necessary.
