YouTuber A, who was sued for defaming the late Kim Sae-ron, has released recordings mentioning that he suffered an assault from a man who claimed to have married her in the United States during her lifetime.
On the 20th, a video titled "Shocking recording! The real reason the late Kim Sae-ron suffered" was uploaded to YouTuber A's channel. The video contains a recording of what is claimed to be a conversation between a representative from the late Kim Sae-ron's agency (not affiliated with Gold Medalist) and her close friend on the day of her death.
In the video, the late Kim Sae-ron's close friend B said in response to the question, "What is going on?" that "It’s true. I saw her just the day before yesterday." When asked, "Did you meet the day before yesterday? How was it?" he replied, "It was fine. We played screen golf together and had a meal."
In response to the question, "What about your trip to the U.S.?" he claimed, "I think it’s because of the man she met in the U.S. He had been assaulting Sae-ron and went wild. I have all the photos of the assault. We were in contact until yesterday, but then this happened suddenly."
B continued, saying, "(After coming back from the U.S.) I met him twice. The person in the U.S. contacted me and cursed at me, and I didn’t respond at all. I didn’t text back, and really wanted to curse, but I decided not to reply for Sae-ron's sake. However, he kept contacting me through different numbers, cursing me, and that was the end. I never contacted him, and Sae-ron felt really sorry, saying she was threatened by him during the assault. He sent me a photo of scars on his neck, saying it was real."
He stated, "When I first came back from the U.S., I was working for OO company, so Sae-ron came to meet me in OO, and we talked about various things while having a meal. After that, we kept in touch occasionally, and then two days ago, I met her in Seoul for the first time in a while. That was it." He added, "I don’t have accurate information, and my friends don’t have accurate information either, but they suspect that she may have left because of that man. He kept speaking that way, making personal attacks. He was threatening her."
Previously, A had also uploaded recordings with titles like "Shocking exclusive! The truth the family of Kim Sae-ron has hidden" and "Shocking! Recordings of Kim Sae-ron during her lifetime... The truth of the wedding rumor on January 8th." He also added that the recordings allegedly include conversations between the late Kim Sae-ron and a representative from her agency.
Through this video, A claimed that the late Kim Sae-ron married an ordinary person working for a large company in the U.S. and that she had an inheritance. In January, the late Kim Sae-ron posted a photo with the phrase "Marry" in a wedding photo concept. When rumors of her marriage arose, she clarified that it was "a snapshot taken with a friend." In this regard, A asserted that the late Kim Sae-ron did indeed get married.
However, in relation to this, the Garosero Research Institute, established by former MBC reporter Kim Se-yeon, conducted a live broadcast on the 20th, stating, "The family has heard nothing about Sae-ron getting married. And regarding (Kim Sae-ron’s) hospital bills, no one paid them, and the manager ended up paying 20 million won, which makes no sense at all. They requested evidence of this while crying loudly."
Meanwhile, as A uploaded yet another video related to the private life of the late Kim Sae-ron, netizens have responded coldly. In particular, the authenticity of the recording is also unclear. Comments included criticisms of "distraction from the main issue" and skepticism about whether he is truly a close friend.
On the other hand, the family of the late Kim Sae-ron has claimed that she dated Kim Soo-hyun for six years starting when she was 15 years old and has been pressured by her agency regarding 700 million won in damages due to a drunk driving incident. The agency, however, claimed that they dated from the summer of 2019 until the fall of 2020, after she became an adult. They also explained that regarding the 700 million won certified contents, "If we forcibly assume the penalty that Kim Sae-ron should bear, it could constitute a breach of duty by the executives who made that decision, and there was a risk that such costs would not be recognized as the company’s expenses. Our efforts to secure our claim against Kim Sae-ron had to be confirmed."
In this regard, the family submitted a lawsuit against YouTuber A, who had uploaded videos related to the private life of the late Kim Sae-ron multiple times, to the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency on the afternoon of the 17th. They also mentioned that they are considering legal action against Kim Soo-hyun's side.
