Broadcaster Lee Young-ja explained the controversy surrounding her lion-head hairstyle, which had shocked everyone.
On the 16th, a video titled "Today is the day to shoot 'Omantu'! Young-ja appeared in 3 degrees" was uploaded to the 'Lee Young-ja TV' channel.
On that day, Lee Young-ja arrived at the salon, holding a lot of outfits. She noted, "I wasn’t sure what to wear since I wanted to match it with my makeup and hair. My hair stylist has received a lot of criticism. I sharpened my skills today."
After receiving her makeup, Lee Young-ja said, "The director sharpened the skills. They said I received a lot of criticism." She added, "The director suggested letting my hair down. It would take down even most men. It really did. They were shocked. The director who has worked with me is now interfering with my love life. Down hair looks like Tang Wei's style. It's autumn style. Not Tang Tang Wei, but Tang Tang almost got shot. It was also toward the mountains," and joked.
After finishing her makeup, they actively set her hair. Lee Young-ja asked, "What is today’s concept?" and the director replied, "It’s a girl." Regarding the controversy over the 'lion-head' hairstyle, she admitted, "I’ll give an excuse that isn’t an excuse. There wasn't enough time."
Lee Young-ja retorted, "What are you talking about?" The director explained, "With a magic iron, isn't your hair supposed to be curly? I should have used the magic iron, but I only used a dryer and added volume before just finishing it..."
In response, Lee Young-ja mentioned, "Vidal Sassoon. Studied in the UK," referring to the audience reactions, while the director lamented, "Even though I studied in the UK, you did your hair like that. This is really not how life works."
Seeing herself with her hair in braids, Lee Young-ja said, "It reminds me of the MBC comedians' room. I used to do sketches there to make everyone laugh. When you go to Daehangno, there's a black-and-white photo studio where mothers and fathers dressed in uniforms take pictures for their 30th wedding anniversary. Doesn’t that look like a waiting room?"
The director said it was "a new feeling," but Lee Young-ja awkwardly replied, "Is it because I always tie it up?" Eventually, after several attempts, she decided on her signature hairstyle.
She said, "If I do it this way, my eyes lift. It's from the procedure. People say they get bored, but I like it. Tying it up gives me confidence. Don’t my eyes lift?" She added, "This is better," to which the director agreed, saying, "This is your look," and Lee Young-ja confessed, "Natural is the best. I found it uncomfortable too."
