It is based on the web novel of the same name (written by Jeon Seon-young).
In the drama, Siumin plays the genius Heo Gyun, who possesses extraordinary writing skills and aesthetic senses. Heo Gyun, who has a free spirit not in line with the times, accidentally time slips from the Joseon Dynasty to the modern era at the edge of death. As someone who never forgets what he has seen, he meets Bang Eun-sil (played by Choo So-jung), the daughter of a lunch shop, and they begin managing the diner together.
Amidst captivating time slip elements, Siumin honestly expressed his resolve regarding "Heo's Diner." He noted, "I received a proposal from a director with whom I have a personal relationship, and when I read the script, it was so delightful and fun. I was sure I could enjoy the filming, and I was impressed by how Heo Gyun reacts to new things after time slipping."
As keywords that well represent the character "Heo Gyun," Siumin cited "egalitarian," "naive," and "transcendent genius." He elaborated, "He possesses a genius that never forgets what he has seen and shows his true self to anyone without pretense. Additionally, he dreams of a world where there is no discrimination based on status, as an egalitarian."
On the other hand, regarding the character "Heo Gyun," Siumin explained, "Although he may appear cheerful on the outside, he possesses a depth of thought and a charm of unexpectedness beneath. He is loyal and seems to be attentive and considerate towards his people."
While portraying the character Heo Gyun, Siumin emphasized, "Since Heo Gyun has to run a diner after time slipping to the modern era, there are cooking scenes. Thanks to this, I, who usually don't cook, practiced chopping at home," raising anticipation for the cooking scenes.
Lastly, Siumin introduced a point to watch by saying, "Heo Gyun makes whimsical comments as he reacts to new things, so it would be good to pay attention to what he thinks when he speaks." In addition, he encouraged viewers, saying, "'Heo's Diner' is a drama that anyone can comfortably watch.
