Actor Kim Soo-hyun's personal life controversy has spilled over into the MBC entertainment show "Good Day," in which he is involved.

On the 20th, the team from MBC's "Good Day" issued an official press release announcing the cancellation of the 6th episode, which was scheduled to air on the 23rd. In this regard, the "Good Day" team noted, "We are taking a week off to reorganize the program," adding that a special episode of another MBC entertainment show, "I Live Alone," would be scheduled during that time.

Although they did not reveal specific reasons, the reorganization of "Good Day" is interpreted as a measure to edit the footage of Kim Soo-hyun's appearance among the cast and improve the overall quality. This is in light of Kim Soo-hyun being continuously criticized due to allegations regarding his past romantic relationship with the late actress Kim Sae-ron, which was raised by the YouTube channel "Garosero Research Institute."

"Garosero Research Institute" has recently borrowed the claims of Kim Sae-ron's family to allege that Kim Soo-hyun had a romantic relationship with Kim Sae-ron, who was a minor in her third year of middle school, for about six years, raising suspicions of "grooming crimes." Additionally, Kim Soo-hyun's agency, Goldmedalist, pressured him by sending a claim for damages totaling 700 million won due to the penalty related to Kim Sae-ron's drunk driving accident, asserting that Kim Soo-hyun had been indifferent to this matter.

In this context, Kim Soo-hyun's side has countered by claiming "defamation of character based on false facts," but has struggled to gain traction. Amid this, the criticism toward Kim Soo-hyun has spread to "Good Day," where online petitions demanding his departure have flooded the official viewer bulletin board of "Good Day," and criticism has even turned toward the show's producer, Kim Tae-ho.

This criticism intensified on the 13th when Kim Soo-hyun attended the "Good Day" filming site. According to broadcasting officials, initially, Kim Soo-hyun's side had expressed their intent to skip the filming scheduled for the 13th due to a sudden regional event on the 12th, the day before the recording. As a result, the production team proceeded with the filming of "Good Day" without Kim Soo-hyun. However, several hours into the recording, Kim Soo-hyun appeared at the filming location, and consequently, his footage was minimized for the recording.

Subsequently, in the 5th episode of "Good Day," which aired on the 16th, Kim Soo-hyun also made a brief appearance. The show features a lavish lineup of guests centered around Big Bang's G-Dragon, in addition to a large music project that incorporates everyone's voices, making it difficult to edit out Kim Soo-hyun's appearance during group filming.

As a result, the criticism toward "Good Day" surged further. Ultimately, the "Good Day" team released an official statement on the 17th after the 5th episode aired, stating, "We recognize the seriousness of the controversy surrounding the cast members and are continuing production while prioritizing viewer responses." However, due to the fact that "Good Day" is not only broadcast by the domestic network MBC but also airs in real-time on domestic OTT Wave and VOD services through the global OTT Disney+, and since it is a program that is pre-produced at least 2 weeks to a week before airing, the time differences in filming, editing, and release could not be avoided.

In fact, global OTT platforms often demand that the edited versions be provided earlier than the broadcast due to reasons such as translation. It is reported that failing to comply with such demands could increase production cost burdens. Nevertheless, "Good Day" has decided to postpone its airing even on the global OTT Disney+. This indicates that the controversy surrounding Kim Soo-hyun has not subsided and is sensitive to negative reactions both domestically and internationally. While praise and interest in G-Dragon remain high, it remains to be seen whether the goodwill toward him can outweigh the negative sentiments arising from the Kim Soo-hyun controversy. The future actions of "Good Day" will be closely watched.
