Actor Kim Soo-hyun is facing strong criticism due to allegations of a romantic relationship during the minor years of the late Kim Sae-ron, while attention is focusing on whether he will attend a fan meeting in Taiwan.
According to Taiwan media ETtoday on the 19th (local time), Taiwan's Seven Eleven has decided to hold a fan meeting for its model Kim Soo-hyun during the Cherry Blossom Festival to be held in Kaohsiung on the 30th.
At the fan meeting, which is scheduled for approximately 40 minutes, the organizers selected 200 attendees through a pre-draw. The entrance fee is reported to be free, excluding the participation fee for the Cherry Blossom Festival.
There were earlier concerns about the possibility of canceling Kim Soo-hyun's fan meeting in Taiwan. However, the festival organizers announced they will proceed with the schedule as planned. They particularly explained that "since the tickets were won for free, even if the fan meeting schedule is changed or canceled, attendees cannot request ticket discounts, transfers, exchanges, or refunds from the organizers."
As a result, a flood of criticism is directed toward both the local organizers in Taiwan and Kim Soo-hyun. Among those, requests for refunds for the Cherry Blossom Festival tickets are surging. However, the Taiwan Consumer Council has stated, "It is difficult to refund the Cherry Blossom Festival tickets as it is not a personal concert."
Kim Soo-hyun has recently been embroiled in allegations of 'grooming' related to a past relationship with Kim Sae-ron during her minor years. The YouTube channel "Garosero Research Institute" has formally demanded an apology from Kim Soo-hyun and his agency, borrowing claims from Kim Sae-ron's family.
However, Kim Soo-hyun's side confirmed that although they did have a relationship with Kim Sae-ron in the past, it was not during her minor years, but rather from the summer of 2019 to the fall of 2020 when they were both adults, and he denies the related allegations. Despite this, criticism of Kim Soo-hyun is intensifying both domestically and internationally. Kim Soo-hyun's side has stated their intention to take strong legal action against the "Garosero Research Institute."
