Singer Yoo Seung-jun reminisced about his memories in Korea.
Yoo Seung-jun recently shared a video on his personal social media account with the caption "elementary school I attended since its opening."
The video Yoo shared featured an elementary school located in Songpa District, Seoul. Along with this, Yoo shared a video of a middle school in Songpa District, saying, "the middle school I attended until the day before immigrating to the United States." Yoo reflected on the videos of his elementary and middle school, saying, "It's just the same."
While it might be mistaken that Yoo filmed the video himself, it is known that it was sent to Yoo by a fan. Yoo explained, "One of my fans filmed the middle school I attended until moving to the United States and sent it to me. Thank you."
Yoo Seung-jun lost his Korean citizenship after obtaining U.S. citizenship upon leaving for the United States in January 2002 for a performance while he was under a call-up notice for public service workers.
The Ministry of Justice restricted Yoo Seung-jun's entry, and he filed for a visa as an overseas Korean (F-4) at the LA Consulate General in August 2015, 13 years later. However, when the LA Consulate General denied the visa issuance, he filed a lawsuit asking for it to be canceled.
After a legal battle, Yoo Seung-jun ultimately won, and the government could have issued a visa in accordance with the court ruling, allowing him to set foot in Korea. However, the LA Consulate General continued to deny the visa issuance.
Meanwhile, Yoo Seung-jun debuted with his first album "West Side" in 1997. He enjoyed peak popularity, winning the main award at the 14th Golden Disc Awards, the Popularity Award at the 16th Golden Disc Awards, the Netizen's Popularity Award at the 2001 SBS Gayo Daejeon, and the Best Popular Artist Award from KBS Gayo Awards selected by producers in 2001, but has focused on overseas activities since being banned from entering the country. He is currently active as a film actor.
