Former national representative skeleton athlete Yun Sung-bin faced backlash for comments about 'kangaroo people' in their 30s.
Recently, a video titled "From Yun Sung-bin's management diet to his views on dating" was posted on the YouTube channel 'Iron Bin Yun Sung-bin'.
In the released video, while performing an eating broadcast of duck soup, Yun Sung-bin expressed curiosity about the staff's comment, saying, "What is a kangaroo person?" The staff explained, "It means living with your mom and dad. These days, there are many kangaroo people in their 30s," to which Yun Sung-bin asked, "Why is that? Why aren’t they becoming independent?"
When the staff said, "It's because there's no money," Yun Sung-bin responded, "Is it because there's no money, or are they spending it all? Why is there no money? They are working, right? Is it because prices are high?" However, the staff argued, "After paying rent and living expenses, there’s nothing left," but Yun Sung-bin caught attention by saying, "Can’t you just save on living expenses?"
While listening to this, the staff remarked, "You are making controversial comments in real time," and asked, "What do you think the standard of living expenses is?" Yun Sung-bin replied, "That depends on one’s income."
Then the staff lamented, "If you receive minimum wage, it’s around 200,000 to 230,000 won, and factoring in rent, maintenance costs, and monthly rent, it comes to about 1 million won. Then you have to live on 130,000 won, and with food and transportation, there’s really not much left." Ultimately, Yun Sung-bin advised, "When starting out, go live at your parents' house for a bit."
However, after the video was released, there was a flood of reactions suggesting that Yun Sung-bin's remarks were inappropriate. Various online communities have criticized it as "reckless comments."
Now, the Yun Sung-bin YouTube channel has restricted the comment function and ultimately deleted the video.
