Five years have passed since broadcast personality Lee Chi-hoon, a former star of 'Eolzzang Era,' left this world.
March 19, 2025, marks the fifth anniversary of Lee Chi-hoon's passing. The deceased died on March 19, 2020, at the age of 32.
Lee Chi-hoon, who caused concern while resting from broadcasting due to lymphadenitis and body aches, showed symptoms of high fever after visiting the hospital. Although the coronavirus test result was negative, he was diagnosed with bacterial encephalitis and died from acute sepsis during treatment.
Upon receiving the sudden news, fellow BJ Se-ya noted, "Hyung (older brother) Chi-hoon went to heaven. He had to go to the emergency room due to his ill health and had to undergo a COVID-19 test. It was said he missed the timing for proper treatment since he was told he would be seen a few days later."
Particularly, the news of Lee Chi-hoon's passing came shortly after he left a message on his personal broadcasting platform community stating, "I have been in and out of the hospital due to lymphadenitis for the past two days, and today I am additionally suffering from a strong body ache. It's a really tough time for everyone, but let's hang in there." This added to the sorrow.
Lee Chi-hoon's funeral was held without a burial site, and his inheritance was donated to the Green Umbrella Children's Foundation according to his mother's wishes. His mother stated, "I decided that using the wealth my son left behind to save lives would make my son in heaven even happier."
Lee Chi-hoon's mother passed away the following year in October, evoking sadness. In October 2021, a post on Lee Chi-hoon's social media stated, "My son Lee Chi-hoon and his mother will surely meet, recognize each other at a glance, and be together forever," informing about his mother's passing.
Lee Chi-hoon debuted in 2009 with Ystar's 'Live Entertainment Inside' and gained much love through the Comedy TV series 'Eolzzang Era.' He also appeared in K Star's 'Flower Boy Company' and worked as a singer before transitioning to a BJ and interacting with fans.
