Amid reports of having become a sugar farmer, former S.E.S. member Shoo revealed surprising updates about her recent success as a CEO after quitting gambling.
Previously, Shoo was sued in 2018 for not repaying gambling funds amounting to about 700 million won. She was accused of habitual gambling amounting to hundreds of millions of won over 26 occasions in places like Macau from August 2016 to May 2018, leading to a six-month prison sentence, a two-year probation, and 80 hours of community service in February 2019. Additionally, creditors who lent her the gambling funds placed a provisional seizure on the multi-family housing owned by Shoo, stating that tenants could not return their deposit, which led to a lawsuit for the return of the loaned amount; however, it concluded with a settlement in November 2020.
Afterward, in 2022, she attempted to make a comeback as an internet broadcaster (BJ) but faced criticism over controversies, including nudity. During this process, S.E.S. member Bada publicly shared her feelings, confessing to a conflict that led to rumors of discord.
In a situation where a return to the entertainment industry seemed nearly impossible, Shoo shared surprising news about quitting gambling and making a comeback. Recently, she stated, "Through an introduction from an acquaintance, I became aware of a company and had the opportunity to participate in the development and investment of health food with centella asiatica as the main ingredient." Shoo revealed that she has been preparing for the business, sharing that she manages centella asiatica in a house spanning 1,500 pyeong, transforming into a true farmer, dressed comfortably rather than in her stage attire.
In addition, Shoo shared that she had previously revealed the process of self-renovation, stating, "This is a self-renovation project with a quote of a renovation worth 100 million won, costing 10 million won." She expressed pride, saying, "I love working, and although there were challenges, I took on the task, researched, and repeated the process until completion. The feeling is hard to express in words."
Amid this, on the 18th, she shared through her social media, "It has been six months since I became immersed in plants. I was worried, but these were very happy days." She reflected, "Looking back, it's true that I wasn't completely happy during the last few years. Things didn't go as I always wanted. However, I found something to focus on while developing and launching products, which I'm very grateful for."
