Director Min Kyu-dong's new film "Conflict" has confirmed its release date and unveiled the poster and trailer.
On the 19th, the team behind the film "Conflict" (directed by Min Kyu-dong, produced by Supfilmm, distributed by NEW) confirmed its release date for May 1 and revealed two first posters and the first trailer.
The film "Conflict," based on the bestselling novel of the same name by author Koo Byeong-mo, carries a double meaning in its title: "it has imperfections, but the more it ripens, the more perfect it becomes." This action drama "Conflict" depicts the intense confrontation between legendary killer "Sculpture" (Lee Hye-young), who has spent over 40 years in an organization that eliminates human pests, and the mysterious killer "Bullfighter" (Kim Sung-cheol), who has devoted his life to chasing him. With its release date set for May 1, it raises anticipation among potential viewers with the reveal of its two powerful and captivating first posters and the first trailer.
The first of the two first posters grabs attention with the overwhelming aura of the two killers. Centered around the copy, "Is it okay to kill?", the portrayal of legendary killer "Sculpture" as played by Lee Hye-young captivates both those who are exhilarated and those who are fearful, while Kim Sung-cheol perfectly embodies the mysterious man "Bullfighter" who became a killer to find "Sculpture," inviting curiosity about the upcoming drama and action that will unfold between the two characters.
The second first poster, released alongside, conveys the charisma of "Sculpture" with only the back view adorned with a sharp hairpin, inaccessible to anyone. Meanwhile, following its world premiere at the 75th Berlin International Film Festival, "Conflict" has captured significant attention with glowing reviews from prestigious international media, such as, "Impressive enough to catch the eyes of the film industry with its powerful action and emotional blend!" (ScreenDaily) and "A work from veteran director Min Kyu-dong, who has conquered all genres" (The Hollywood Reporter).
The released first trailer opens with the line from "Sculpture"'s mentor, "Ryu" (Kim Mu-yeol): "Think of it this way, you just killed a bug," along with music that heightens the tension. The bloodied face of "Seolhwa" (Cynthia) transforms into that of the 60-year-old legendary killer "Sculpture," sparking curiosity about her story as she states, "Our job is a sacred task to eliminate harmful pests."
Amidst the image of "Sculpture" gazing at himself, no longer the same as before, the mysterious killer "Bullfighter" follows up with the line, "You're old and useless, so aren't you just trash that needs to be discarded?" Depicting the mutual surveillance between "Sculpture" and "Bullfighter," the sharp question from "Sculpture," "What’s your purpose for coming here?" foreshadows their fierce confrontation. Thus, the action drama "Conflict," which conveys the emotional turbulence centering around an unprecedented 60-year-old killer, is expected to inject fresh vitality into theaters in May.
