Kim Chang-ok advised that one should not speak ill of a spouse in front of children.

On the 18th episode of tvN STORY "Kim Chang-ok Show 3," the topic of discussion was "The Devastating Partner."

The mother explained to her daughter why she vented her frustrations about her husband, saying, "If I tell someone else, it’s like spitting at myself while lying down. I thought my child would understand because they see the couple up close. When I was upset, I complained to my daughter."

The mother lamented, "I started working when the second child was 2 to 3 years old. I accounted for more than 70 to 80% of the household income. That seems to have become all too natural for my husband. He says, 'I don't want to be the breadwinner. You do it.'"

The mother said, "I felt betrayed by my husband. I listened to the complaints of my mother and mother-in-law. I thought the children would understand, but it turns out the child was struggling."

Kim Chang-ok said, "It's been several years that my daughter has been struggling," and the daughter replied, "It’s been tough since I was little. It’s been hard since elementary school." Kim Chang-ok lamented, "My daughter has been affected for 10 years, 20 years." The daughter said, "I’ve seen how hard you worked and how difficult your marriage was. I can fully understand my mother's position. Hearing this makes me empathize with my mother, which is very tough on me too."

The daughter stated, "When I was young, I felt no sense of self while listening to the stories, and I really hated dad. When I got along well with dad, mom seemed to feel hurt. There were times when it was uncomfortable." Kim Chang-ok remarked, "In Korea, there are families where one speaks ill of their spouse to their children. Dad doesn't do that. Hearing negative remarks about men from a young age can influence perceptions during dating. Conversely, it can also lead to marrying young. One might not recognize a good man."

Kim Chang-ok advised, "Please, daughter, son, do not speak ill of a spouse or criticize them just because they seem like friends."
