Singer Kim Jang-hoon announced that he is canceling the concert scheduled for the 29th in Suncheon, Jeollanam-do. The reason has been revealed to be poor ticket sales.
On the 18th, Kim Jang-hoon posted a lengthy message on his Instagram titled "I bring you unfortunate news."
Kim Jang-hoon wrote, "No matter how poor the sales are, there will naturally be criticism saying that this is a promise to the audience that must be kept. Due to the current chaotic situation, almost all cultures in South Korea have died."
He noted that only a little over 10% of the total seats in Suncheon had been reserved, saying, "Both the agency and I were very surprised. I don't think there has ever been a time like this even when things were bad before."
He added, "During the last concert in Suncheon, there was a martial law situation, and ticket sales completely stopped from that day, yet about 70% were booked."
He explained the background for the concert cancellation, stating, "The last concert was canceled on the day due to the Muan accident, and the agency kindly understood. For this concert, I was not taking any guarantees in terms of compensating the agency's losses, and I intended to pay the guarantees for the band and my staff, but the potential damage to the regional agency was too great, so they proposed the cancellation."
He apologized, saying, "Ideally, I would cover all the losses and consider performing for either 50 or 100 minutes, but given the situation, a deficit is anticipated for the Seoul concert as well, and I am not yet in a position to take on Suncheon. I am very sorry."
He continued, "When times improve someday, I will definitely go. Or, if my business goes well and I earn a lot of money, I will take responsibility to perform regardless of the circumstances. The best scenario is for me to build trust in my performances as I did before, so that regardless of the times, things go well—that would be the best outcome."
Finally, he stated, "A singer giving up on a performance for any excuse deserves to be criticized. I will work harder and succeed in business to definitely return to Suncheon with the best performance."
